Doctor Hurt
Doctor Hurt is a comic book character that first appeared in Batman #156Leader of the Black Glove. Claimed to be Thomas Wayne in order to mess with Batman's psyche.
Throughout the Batman R.I.P. story arc written by Grant Morrison, Doctor Hurt has claimed to be Bruce Wayne's father Thomas Wayne. In Batman issue 681, the truth is revealed. Hurt is believed to be the sociopath Mangrove Pierce, a master of impersonation. The Club of Heroes faced him on John Mayhew's island. Apparently there's some history which Batman explains during the 681 denouement. Pierce had an affair with Mayhew's wife so Mayhew framed Pierce for murder. The Club of Heroes members did their own independent investigations into The Black Glove which lead them to Gotham City. Batman finally confronts Batman on the roof of Arkham Asylum and still Hurt claims to be Thomas Wayne, He demands Bruce Wayne swear allegiance to him when Bruce refuses Hurt then "curses" Batman saying the next time he puts on his costume will be his last the two then battle briefly in his helicopter that is piloted apparently by Michael Lane and all crash in the Gotham City bay. Bruce Wayne survived the explosion but made it but walked straight in the events of Final Crisis where he was apparently killed (Bruce survived and is trapped in prehistoric times but is assumed dead meaning there may have been some truth to Hurt's curse).
InLast Rights it is revealed that Hurt was the scientist who experimented on Batman years ago by when he volunteered for an experiment from NASA the events had Batman briefly hallucinate for a few days but he seemed to recover. Hurt most likely used this event to bury his mental trap into Bruce Wayne's mind that he used in RIP.
Although he has mysterious origins and no confirmed identity there are hints in the story that he is in fact the Devil.
