and think about what you said, a 200 page regular novel. thats usually one writer and maybe a small editorial staff, and then just text on the pages. no art, colors, or anything else in there. obviously thats much much cheaper to print, and theres less people to pay.
Im the same, Id feel fine buying 30 comics a month at $2-2.50, but I not gonna spend $70 on 15 comics which is why I only buy the 7 titles I really want.
