X-Force finds out about a government project to create advanced artificial intelligence the likes of which weren't supposed to be seen until the future. Siryn asks Banshee for information on Nimrod. Cable lets Forge and X-Factor know about whats happening. After some reconnaissance, X-Force break into a facility at Camp Hayden to thwart the project and are quickly defeated by an awakened Nimrod.

Note: There is an error on page 15. In a discussion about Siryn's run-in with Black Tom, as well as about X-Force stealing files from the X-Men, an asterisk points the reader to X-Force #19, as if both events happened in the same book. In truth, X-Force stole the files in #19 while Siryn met with Black Tom in #31.

    Synopsis

Shatterstar and Domino break into Hannigan Electronics to investigate a contract awarded to the company from the federal government. They find the body of Martin Henry Strong in stasis but not the information they are looking for. A Dr. Crispin confronts the mutants and is surprised that they know about the Intellect Chip that she holds. Shatterstar grabs the chip and Dr. Crispin tells the two that she is just doing her job.

Elsewhere, Rictor and Warpath continue their task of the surveillance of Dr. Bougred Suntas. They get the word that Domino and Shatterstar got the Intellect Chip and that they are to move on Suntas. They tail him and Rictor pops the doctor's tire. He and Warpath then jump to the rescue and fix the tire, all while swiping information needed regarding the Intellect Chip.

In Washington D.C., Cable meets with Forge concerning the Intellect Chip. Cable gives Forge a peak at the schematics and Forge is stunned at the complexity of the technology, stating that such should not be possible for another twenty-five years.

At Harvard, Siryn and Banshee have a little heart to heart in which they realize that their relationship will likely never reach that of father and daughter. They settle for friends, though. Siryn then asks for more information from the X-Men databases (to supplement what X-Force stole) in regards to Nimrod.

In Kentucky, Paige expresses her desire to become an X-Man and not waste her life like Cannonball.

With everyone back at Camp Verde, Cable announces that the Nimrod technology that the X-Men had hopefully eradicated is back and appears to be merged with the Sentinel Master Mold technology. He then explains how Nimrod is responsible for the deaths of countless mutants in the future and why the there is the need to snuff out the program before it becomes operable. X-Force agrees to help infiltrate Camp Hayden and neutralize the threat.

For once, X-Force goes in quiet. Siryn takes out any guards with a high-pitched pulse that sends them all to sleep. Rictor vibes any weapons and renders them ineffective. All appears to go well until it doesn't. Nimrod awakens itself and begins to attack the mutants. The workers are confused as to how Nimrod has come to life and they learn of the technology's adaptive capabilities. Despite all of Cable's preparations in taking the Nimrod project down before it is operable, he finds that Nimrod is already capable of attack.
