Lucia Callasantos (Thornn) is hunted down by New York's finest for the murder of her family. Declaring innocence, she turns to X-Force to help prove that it was her sister Maria (Feral) who actually committed the murders. They lure Feral to the old home of the Callasantos family in hopes of finally getting some answers.

Synopsis

Detective José Hidalgo has tracked murder suspect Lucia Callasantos [the mutant called Thornn] into the Morlock Tunnels, accompanied by the NYPD's superhuman task force "Code: Blue". She attacks them, fighting bravely, but she is outnumbered... shot with a tranquiliser dart, she protests her innocence--"I didn' kill my family!! SHE did!!"... As Code: Blue takes her away, Hidalgo is troubled--it seems he knew Thornn in happier times, and her mysterious accusation has a meaning for him...

Meanwhile, Domino is showing X-Force their new HQ, formerly Arcade's "Murderworld"--Cannonball is not impressed, but a good case is made and he comes around to the idea. Boomer gets goofy... Domino is rude to Boomer, sotto voce... Rictor is rude to Shatterstar amiably... Boomer drapes herself on Cannonball's arm... Cable is off somewhere... general conviviality.

In the Bronx a mob gathers, led by the anti-mutant group "Friends of Humanity"; they want to know the identity of the suspected murderer. As Hidalgo questions Thornn it comes out that these two knew each other as children, before Thornn's mutation, and her mother, brother and sister's murders. In fact--he loved her. He tries to speak to her about all of this, but she doesn't feel like talking. She asks for her phonecall, but Hidalgo doubts whether any lawyer in the city will be able to save her...

Outside, the mob is getting ugly... Graydon Creed [founder of the Friends of Humanity] is pleased... Thornn's name and picture are released, leaving no doubt that she is a mutant... Feral overhears this on a TV in a shop window. In Westchester the Beast asks Professor X if the X-Men should get involved--he says not; Cable has already called him. The media wonders if there is a link between X-Force and the murders...

Cable tells X-Force they have a responsibility to do something, as Feral was once a member of the team. Feral and Thornn are sisters. Cannonball gets cross--he thinks Thornn should stand trial, but Warpath reminds him that anti-mutant prejudice may have already condemned her. Cannonball is unconvinced; he remembers how Feral attacked him, and thinks her sister may be no different. But Cable wants to investigate.

The next morning Cable and Cannonball visit Thornn; the protest continues outside. Cable reveals that he is a qualified lawyer, and that Thornn's phonecall had been to him. Thornn is restrained in some kind of high-tech enormous handcuffs, but she is defiant. She says again that she is innocent. Cannonball still seems cross. Cable reveals he has heard that Feral is back in Manhattan, and asks Thornn why that might be. Thornn is enigmatic, evasive. Later, Cable talks to Hidalgo--he knows the detective thinks Thornn is not the killer, and offers (off the record) to help him catch Feral...

Due to the protests, Thornn is being transferred to Ryker's Island... however, the drivers are to be agents of the Friends of Humanity, and it has been arranged that Thornn will be 'killed while attempting to escape'. But Cable knew. Rictor and Shatterstar attack the prison van on motorcycles. The rest of X-Force are following in a futuristic car/tank type vehicle. Cannonball still out of sorts! Rictor attacks the van with a "low-level vibe-quake"; it loses control, and Warpath brings it to a stop. Hidalgo and Thornn are freed, and join X-Force in their vehicle, bound for an unknown destination...

On the way, Thornn's restraints are removed--Cable tells her they are going to see the one person who can help them learn the truth. Thornn is... horrified? Frightened? She speaks to herself in spanish.

They arrive at the building where Hidalgo, Thornn and Feral grew up. It's boarded up, abandoned--but Cable says, if their contact did her job right, "there should be one person here."... "YOU--?!" screams Thornn--Feral is above them, grinning/snarling... "Me, sister. Feral is here. Tricked into comin' here. Set up by you." She says she hates them all, and that if they want to know the truth they will have to tear it out of her...
