With X-Force in the X-Mansion, it doesn't take too long for Caliban to attack Sabretooth. Before the death-blow can be struck against the newly docile bad guy, Cable shows up and diffuses the situation. Boomer is chastised when it's found that she's been seeing Sabretooth regularly. Later, Beast has found some oddities with Shatterstar and conducts further tests while Cable and the rest of the boys head to Siberia to find out what happened to one of Xavier's underground outposts. The Mimic happened.

    Synopsis

Boomer is up at midnight doing something she knows she'd get busted for. She puts some milk in a bowl and walks to the Danger Room. She drops the bowl upon arrival, as she sees that the main controls have been damaged and that Caliban is below beating the crap out of Sabretooth. She tries her best to get Caliban's attention, but he is blood-lusted and looking for revenge (Sabretooth was part of the Marauders that killed the majority of the Morlocks). Cable arrives and does a quick fix for the control panels and changes the scene to the Morlock Tunnels. Cable then telepathically debates with Caliban the justice in killing a seemingly docile Sabretooth. Caliban, thrown off by the new surroundings and the realization that Sabretooth seems incapable of fighting back, releases his foe and commits to cleaning up his mess. Boomer is chastised for her desire to socialize with Sabretooth.

The next day, Sunspot continues exploring the boundaries of his new flying powers. Professor Xavier encourages Cable to do the same with his telepathic powers, but with Jean Grey as a teacher. Cable refuses the help, as he just wants to put his head down and take things as they come. Warpath trains with Caliban and asks if the mutant tracker will help locate Siryn, who has been missing for a few days. Caliban refuses, as he doesn't want to get into any more trouble with Cable.

Professor Xavier gives X-Force a mission to contact a monitoring station in Russia that has gone offline. Cable swings by the medical wing to see if Shatterstar is up for the mission. Shatterstar is more than happy to go, but Beast says he would like an opportunity to study Shatterstar a bit more. Boomer hears that Shatterstar gets a pass and very unconvincingly asks to stay back due to the flu. Cable allows it. (She of course just wants some time with her newly-minted X-Man boyfriend Cannonball, but he has to head out on a mission, so her ruse was almost pointless.)

In Russia, Cable and the rest of the team finds that the monitoring site isn't just offline, but that there is a huge crater in the middle of the community. Caliban senses an odd presence and the team soon runs into the Mimic, who is none-too-pleases to be disturbed.
