I'll be honest to you. Pick this issue up.  If you are a Sweet Tooth reader or not, this issue in this format is what Comics are about (Pushing the medium). This single stand alone will read better in this format, so even trade readers may want to get this issue for future reading.  Non Sweet Tooth readers can use this as a jump in point (Hopefully). Sweet Tooth is one of those series I double dip in, I pick it up monthly and then in trade and this issue I know I will only read as this format, even when I have the trade.

This is an issue you may not want to skip on.  Even if you are a late adapter, Sweet Tooth is one of Vertigo's stronger books, you may not want to miss this issue.  Your Local comic shop may not carry many of these, so you may want to place an order with them.  Don't pass up this issue.

There is a preview of the issue ( HERE)

Cheers

It might give it a certain "storybook" aspect , I'm intrigued

@Emperor Gonzo Noir: I am excite for this.  Jeff never mentioned it too me when I saw him at Fan Expo in the Summer.  Issue 18 was originally suppose to be a stand alone with "guest" Indie cartoonist, well that was what I remember him telling me.  So this change is a pleasant, but a sad surprise at the same time for me.   I hope I didn't turn him off to the "Guest" writers, because I was teasing him he should let me on a few pages.

@Silkcuts: the idea is intriguing, don't know if I've read a comic before that was entirely horizontal, though I seem to recall in one of the Transmet trades (or maybe it was SMT, or maybe something else entirely my memory fails me now) that the first few pages of an issue were horizontal, it felt awkward holding the book in that way but I am still excited for this issue, the cover is awesome!

@aztek the lost:  I find when those types of issues get binded, the middle sometimes gets lost in the fold.  When a series I follow dies odd things like this I have to get the single as well, it is just weird in trade.  It never translates well.

I am excite and sad at the same time with this issue.  When I spoke to Jeff last, I was under the impression issue #18 was suppose to be "guest writers" like Jeffery Brown (Indie guy). I don't know if that was pushed back or scrapped.  I did joke with Jeff online to let me on that issue as a guest, writing or character, but he never replied.  Still looking for me in Sweet Tooth Jeff....lol

But I am excited because I like when the medium is pushed from conformity.  I am more Pro DC, but this like Nuff Said and Marvel Vision (when they did horizontal stories), makes me not hate them as much. I miss Alonso.

The cover is great.  I was getting worried, some of the sweet tooth covers I was not feeling as strongly as earlier covers.  This is a great cover.  It is so the "silence" before the storm.

I haven't decided to get more then one of this issue or not.  Never know, it may not get collected if it just binds bad and is a stand alone.  It all matters whats inside and I like that Jeff is being bold by mixing things up.

@Silkcuts:
Jeff recently wrote on his Twitter account that Matt Kind, Nate Powell and Emi Lenox plus Jeff him self, will be writing and drawing issue 19. So it just got pushed back an issue

And i'll defenetly be picking this issue up. i only read it in trade form but i buy the stand alone kind of stuff, just i case it dosen't get collected in trade form, plus this issue will most likely read better in single issue format.

Do I have to have any prior knowledge on anything that occurred before said issue?

Posted by Silkcuts
@Amegashita:  Since I have yet to read it, I would say no, since it is a stand alone.  I just suggest it to the "Vertigo readers", since formats like this don't tend to collect well in trade.  So I wouldn't want them to miss the opportunity to get this issue if they are serious readers.

You would have to wait for Feb for me to review it.  Unless we all can convince Vertigo to sponsor me and hook me up with issues like this in advance.

Thanks for the input.  I've been busy with a lot of other things and haven't been reading Jeff's Twitter in a while.  Emi Lenox's art is cute, can't wait to see it in a comic.  I think that will be her first published work.

This issue is a safe investment, stand alone and will read better.

So issue #19 I am excited for, I've been waiting for that issue since issue #7 or 8, can't remember when I asked Jeff about that.

@Silkcuts:  Lol, I'd recommend you for sponsorship if it's worth anything.

@Amegashita:  If Marvel was really smart, they would offer me sponsorship...lol
