He has an adversarial relationship with his handlers. The only reason he works for them is because if he doesn't do it willingly, they'll just shut off his brain and use him through the spine.
The Loners employees are so used to their violent customers that when someone walks in coated in blood, they don't even bat an eyelash. The long-time employees even make a game out of how quickly it takes for new employees to freak out.
Nate dropped himself down onto a seat at the bar. The front of his gray shirt was coated in blood. Some of it his.. and some of it not his. Most of it was fresh. Oddly enough, the bartender didn't freak out. "Beer. Now." He demanded, forking over cash upfront.
