Ok, I was wondering what you guys think of religion and what are your views? I personally am not sure what I think of it yet. I can understand why people will want to become atheist, but I don’t understand how you can be sure that a god doesn’t exist. Because I’ve been told many arguments as to why Christianity is not real and it seems many atheists use this as there reason to come to there conclusion that all religions are fake and they use this as the foundation of their views. I guess until somebody can prove that god doesn’t or dose exist I’ll be on the fence.
Religion… What do you think?
fesak says:
"Not sure we'll want this discussion here, there's a lot of fanatics here. They went a bid rabid when i said that the Marvel version of the christian god is at the same power level as marvel's Odin and Zeus."
.LoL. but the internet is a place of freedom of speech (apparently), so I’ll like to hear what people think. :-P
Meh dont get me started I can look at it from the good christian girl view and teh Agnostic point of view.
Dreadnaught says:
"Either god doesn't exist, or he isn't really as benevolent as people say he is. If he were then poverty and all that would not exist. "
from what I understand. humans have free will and poverty is mad made.
fesak says:
"Resonate says:"I've always kept my ground firm on Christianity somehow. people say, come on, that doesn't make sense! But tell me what the last thing you honestly heard that made sense"Haha! That's the best pro-religion argument i've ever heard."
Thanks :P

shakes head
Agnostic here. Used to be a very devote Christian. I guess I am an example of how you can be so hell bent on believeing in something to only turn around later and question those beliefs.

Our definition of nice isn’t the same as gods view of nice, if god dose exist I’m think god would only step in if the whole world was gonna blow up or something

In every way possible
and people don't get it
I don't even call myself Christian anymore, because I'm not them
the netire Idea that the bible tried to get through our heads was just to read between the lines and that regardless of how bad@$$ we thought we were we still f#ck up sometimes

There's a lot of factors in there. Depending on what kind of church you go to. To me, the fanatical churches the always show on TV do nothing more than turn people away from God.

It's hard to believe in God and not believe in Satan. I don't think that's a hard question at all.

Dreadnaught, don't you understand why he wouldn't do that. If God did everything for us, we would have no free will, if we had no free will then what would be the point of him making us in the first place
Hell_Spawn has a point. Ok Now here I go from a christians stand point...
God created man not the poverty. Man created their own poverty. IF there wasnt social standing or corrupt governments who where more interested in power and money povery wouldnt be as bad as it is today.

Did they say they didn't, cause I've yet to meet a Christian who doesn't...

Some theologists doubt that Satan would exist. Would a benevolent being create a place that is the very opposite of his moral fiber?
I'm kinda on the fence with God.....
I believe in the afterlife, heaven, etc., but why does he allow bad things to happen to good people? For a purpose? I've seen senseless things happen with no good come from them......
Oh well, we're all just a second in time. Find out soon enough.

Did God create Satan? No Satan rebelled against God. God won and sent him to hell.

The entire idea of that though was to show you something: God doesn't f#ck around
he made all of the angels adn one of them thought that they could get the better of him and he's seem "cool"
And God let him have it when he turned
He made the soul with the idea that we would get to choose what we did, and he wouldn't change our minds directly
So you can all believe what you want to, if I don't really care about you then I won't try conversion

I was mentioning hell itself. Not Satan.
Razor_ says:
"Maybe God is like the Beyonder. He watches us to learn. (Just putting it out there)"
Christians don't believe that. To christians, like me, we believe that God isn't some guy sitting up in Heaven watching a movie. He's someone you can have a personal relationship with.
I do not believe in religion anymore, it is has far too corrupted by greed and political agendas.
I do however believe in a higher power. I personally think that "God" is far to vast and subtle for the human mind to comprehend. Heck, we're still trying to figure out the Universe she/he/it created (and then scientists are specialists who only study a certain portions of creation. Biologists rarely understand astrophysics and vice versa, for example) and were supposed to fathom the being that created it? Doubtful.
Ghandi once said "All religions are true" in short, whatever path gets you to God, is the right Path. If your path makes you cause harm to other beings, you are not worshiping God, you are worshiping your own self-importance. But I think that all the major religions at their core, in their original scared texts, are looking at a facet, a different side, of the same creator being. Ergo it behooves one to listen to what all religions have to say about God since they can further illuminate one's understanding of the divine.
However, actually following a religious dogma and human teachers, especially blindly, is a mistake.
As for Atheism, most serious atheists I know are secular humanists who are quite moral. They don't believe in God, which is fine, they believe in the goodness and potential of man. As such, there is something religious people can learn from them. Most monotheistic religions focus on the negative aspects of humanity. "Man is inherently sinful..." etc. God obviously created good and evil in mankind, so he must have these aspects within him/her/itself in order to put them there. So why not celebrate, examine, and come to understand the good instead of dwelling on the evil all the time? Why not talk to atheists and see what they have to say about man's nature in order to learn more about divine nature?
My sister is an Atheist and my brother in law made a very interesting observation once: "It is impossible to scientifically prove whether there is or is not a God, so it takes just as big of a leap of faith not to believe in God as it does to believe in God."

God doesn't send people to hell. They send themselves. He has given man every chance he could. Down to the fact that in just accepting Christ you can have eternal life. He can't make it much easier than that.

Yea, I know that. But just saying. I believe in Chrisitans (But I'm not that die hard chrisitan person) just saying are we 100% right that god exists or even know what he does? Just pointing this stuff out there.

I never said sending people to hell. I said, why would he create hell? If it stands against everything he is for? And the fact that Innocent people would be massacred by Evil people has always put doubts in my mind. For example, Hitler and his Nazis killing those of Jewish Religion. Why didn't god stop Hitler? Because A, He's not real. B. He had no power to do so. or C.He didn't care enough to stop it.
Res put it best...
No one is perfect. not even christians. They have their faults just like the rest of us. they just choose to follow someone who they can't see. But the greatest argument is.
"How do you know God is there? You cant see him."
But what about the air? How do we know its there? We can feel it. Thats how we know its there.
The same way with Christianity. you may not see God but you can feel him there. His presence is always felt.

Why did a bad thing happen to Jesus? He was crucified, a long agonizing death, but his death made it possible for us to be with God.

I don't think I can ever explain this to you. You can't be this closed minded. It's not worth it.
