Does believing in parallel universes count? Because you may die in this universe, but another you will still be there.

God gave MAN the power to stop Hitler. Think about it. God created us and we have come so far. He didnt intervene because he knew in the end that we had the power to stop him. it takes something so tragic for us to see the power we have united. This is why God did not stop Hitler. It was a lesson. Yes I know why teach a lesson that kills innocent people in the end. But if he hadnt do you thinkw e would have learned?

It's a leap of faith. I just do. It "feels true" to me when I consider it.

If I was to put logic to it, it stems from my belief that the reason for human life is to learn and grow and become. It does not make sense then that a soul would only get an 80 year shot at learning and growing and then stop forever, be it through death or being stuck in a static and unchanging Heaven. No one can learn everything there is about this world, about life, in a single lifetime. You need thousands of lifetimes to understand human life completely.

The universe is of finite size, there must be something outside it. It may be vast yes, but it reaches no further than 13.7-8 billion light years. It's a box, there is always something outside of that box.

Hey, before I leave for school.....

What do you all envision the afterlife as? As specific as possible....I'm wondering on the different views that people have and what each person thinks in relation to their personality. Or something.

See ya later.

The universe is at least 156 billion light-years wide.

However, I think people must pay attention to the clause "at least", meaning we have no definitive measurement for the universe. It could be bigger. It could be much bigger. It could be infinite.

Its impossible to know this answer even if someone has died for a few minutes and seen the afterlife through their own eyes its impossible to know if it’s the same for everyone.

The farthest observed object was 13.7 billion light years away. We have yet to find anything beyond that.

truthfully I believe there is Heaven and Hell (though I don't know if I wish to go to either)

Heaven: a golden city where all people do is be happy and praise God

Hell: a place of utter darkness where you are forever alone and no matter how much you wish cannot die

I'm a reincarnationist, but I honestly think people should be more concerned about how they live this life than what they think will happen to them in the next.

People who have no pity of the destitute, lie, connive, stab their friends on the back, beat their kids, cheat on their taxes, cut people off in traffic, etc...but are obsessed with whether or not they are going to Heaven have their priorities very mixed up. Your going to heaven or hell or wherever regardless. Work on getting this life right, it's the only thing you actually have power over.

The universe is of finite size, there must be something outside it. It may be vast yes, but it reaches no further than 13.7-8 billion light years. It's a box, there is always something outside of that box. "

He's obviously getting his info from somewhere else if you say it's 13 billion and he says 157 billion"

He then does not realize that moving beyond the speed of light is impossible. If he was correct then the universe would have to be 157 billion years old as well. The universe either expands as fast as light, or more slowly. Or it can fluctuate. It is impossible to go faster.

Actually my understanding is that Jesus said that Heaven was like two things:

It is a city/temple and it is a "wedding party". (If I remember that correctly.)

So it's not all about worshiping God, it is about having fun too.

I'm an atheist. My family never went to church, but my parents read the Bible to me when I was little so I would know what all the fuss was about. I used to be pretty militant about my atheism, and still am occasionally, but overall I've mellowed and developed a more 'live-and-let-live' attitude.

Who said they were female virgins? Could be a bunch of 45 year old Trekkies :P"
who said he thought Heaven was a good place"
Just going along with what he said. I don't believe that. lol"
I know that, its just I believe in Christianity but I don't believe in the facade that Heaven is a place I would want to go"
why not? I don't understand. Paradise sounds good to me"
yeah except that its a Paradise because everyone is dutifully bound to praise God...for all eternity...and sure our human desires will be stripped away but that just makes it worse"

"When I think of the number of disagreeable people that I know who have gone to a better world, I am sure hell wont be so bad at all." - Mark Twain

I just love that quote. Like someone state previously though I believe Christians beliefs I do not call myself one because how it is defined today. I do not pratice religion but I do believe in God and Jesus Christ. But I just do not dwell my whole life around it. Like some stated earlier in a post; many people dwell on rather they are going to heave or hell and don't dwell on things they need to. I just live my life that I believe a good man would and hope once that time comes to see if my name is on the list well I just "pray" I am on it.

However with my beliefs I have many questions and why I am not one of your "devoted" christians. Love for all humans is a big thing to me. I just cannot say that a good person is going to hell just because his beliefs are different than my own. I believe, like Ghandi said, that all religions are true and whatever "righteous" path you walk to get closer to God than that is a right path...

"Agnostic here. Used to be a very devote Christian. I guess I am an example of how you can be so hell bent on believeing in something to only turn around later and question those beliefs. "
There's a lot of factors in there. Depending on what kind of church you go to. To me, the fanatical churches the always show on TV do nothing more than turn people away from God."
I don't have any problem with anyone of any religion. Heck, my entire family (even me) is Christian. But we arent "religious". Those people are the ones that make me angry that they are even associated with the title.

I can't agree with you more.

I know God exists. Its just that the Free Will he gave mankind allows us surmize our own opinions about him. Free Will allows us to rationalize things and see things from a scientific perspective or a perspective that concludes fo facts unstead of the supernatural and truth. We choose to say there is no God cause we have the Free Will to and because there is no immediate punishment from God we say there is no God or cause we see kids in Africa starving to Death, or becuase God did nothing during the Holocaust we say how can there be a God ? But God is real and you can only see this if you have faith in him. You must choose to use your free will to believe in him otherwise you will never see his power and what he can really do for you.
