Why is Batman's name first when it's a Man of Steel sequel?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23660 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Man of Steel Sequel Titled 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'
I really don't care about the title as long as the movie is good. I never have come out of a movie and said "damn, if only the title was better I would have liked this movie.
Seriously they had WORLD'S FINEST and they went with Batman v Superman...ugh. Who takes these decisions?
A fight between Superman and Batman has the potential to shift more tickets so......you know how it goes.
If someone wasn't going to go see Batman and Superman together in the same movie, he wasn't going to see it anyway...
That's not how I see it really, Batman vs Superman is a specific selling point, it's no mistake that they called it that to me as opposed to a more appropriate name like 'World's Finest' as you suggested. The movie will be a better sell teasing the prospect of two of the most popular superheroes ever, fighting each other on screen.
@papinacho: Very doubtful, its most probably because of batman's current popularity, the fact that its a supposed man of steel sequel be damned if it hadn't been stressed as much i wouldn't have had a problem with it, plus the pre-52 version of the series was called Superman/batman.

The common public has no idea what "World's Finest" means.
The common Public didn't know what 'The Avengers' meant either....It's called Marketing. Plus the World's Finest is an even older concept than the avengers.
But yeah, Batman v. Superman sounds like Bruce is taking Clark to court. If you thought that fight couldn't get any less fair, it just did.
LMFAO
It just seems like a cheap way to attract as many people as possible to see this movie.
I hope that that isn't the case, because I would lose even more respect for DC from the very little that I already had.
@ultimatesmfan: So? The title doesn't matter in regards to the content. For all the "top billing" Superman got in the pre-52 title that one had more cool Batman moments than the current one. All indications are that Superman will actually get to be the major player in this movie, given that his supporting characters form the majority of the cast. Having said that, this movie being a Man of Steel sequel doesn't mean it exclusively features Superman, it was announced with a World's Finest logo. It will follow plot lines introduced in Man of Steel, but it is a Batman/Superman sequel like Avengers was a sequel to Iron Man. Ironman was still the main character in Avengers, but the movies featured other heroes.

In some weird way it even makes sense that it sounds like a court case because VS would mean a fight and the general public would laugh at the notion of batman fighting Superman.
It's beyond obvious this isn't just an MOS sequel, and it's been that way for months so why are people sobbing about Batman's name being first?
I really don't like the name keeping Batman v Superman makes it sound like a fun Kaiju throwdown it isn't that. IT sounds like a prequel to a Justice LEague film which makes me worried that it will do what MAn of Steel did which not function as a descrete unit. Ya know like a film SHOULD.
@manneffest: They do what?
People will be complaining about not using "Worlds Finest" as the title but look at it from a marketing tool. It's to the films financial benefit that they have the two biggest superhero draws in the title. "Worlds Finest" means nothing without the logo to most movie goers. "Batman V Superman", that tells people what they are getting and Dawn of Justice gets people excited for potential JL movie. (confirmed) Maybe a wonky title but no more wonky than many comic titles. Lookin at you Ultimate Universe the Ultimate Ultimates lol.
Agreed. Obvious is obvious. We criticize as though the movie revenue will be based mostly off us comic book aficionados. Such is, sadly, not the case. The general public first, fan service second. Because, frankly, that's where the money is.
While Batman v Superman seems somewhat cliche, overused or just plain pedestrian to the average comic book reading fan, it's far more enticing and identifiable to the commonplace not yet overly saturated with the once upon a time iconic struggle tween the two A-Listers.
@manneffest: They do what?
Name it the most ridiculous name ever. I was sceptic of the movie for the longest time, then I saw how awesome Batman and the Batmobile looked and was thinking about seeing it. And then the title was announced… this sounds like a B-movie. DC is not getting my money.
@manneffest: What would be a better title in your opinion?
My only complaint with the title is Batman's name coming first in what was stated to be a Man of Steel sequel. But other than that I am excited for this movie.
Cue superman fanboys complaining batman has the top billing in the name.
That's a legitimate concern, this is supposed to be his sequel.
@manneffest: What would be a better title in your opinion?
The simpler the better, so World's Finest would be my choice. Or even Batman/Superman or Superman/Batman… Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, feels like a direct to DVD title.
@tazzmission: Agreed. "Dawn of Justice" sounds cool on it's own. You don't even need to have Bats or Supes in the title cause their symbols are self-explanatory on their own.
Ugh, I'm totally hating all the lucky b@stards that go to comic-con this year and will probably get to see 1st footage
Cue superman fanboys complaining batman has the top billing in the name.

Its not. Its more like a team up movie like the Avengers than a direct sequel like Iron Man 2.

Well it obvious isn't. It's a prequel for the JL movie. People called that months ago.

I think Batman/Superman or Batman vs Superman do the trick. This does sound like something direct to TV, lol.
Batsuit and Batmobile, possible Joker tease...title isn't "World's Finest".
2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Am i right? (okay, not me,the guy who made it,but you get it)
But he had God working for him xD
@punyparker: I was worried we were going to get Nolan's Batman when WB tried to get Christian Bale to return...
@farkam: Exactly! Haha, any of those titles would have done the trick, but no… they HAD to remind us this was a Justice League prequel.
@rustyroy: Even God didn't help him in the first Bane fight.......GOD that was some ass whooping.
I like the subtitle, but not the main title. Should be "World's Finest: Dawn of Justice" instead. Cool logo, though.
@punyparker: I was worried we were going to get Nolan's Batman when WB tried to get Christian Bale to return...
Would be tremendous fun to see Bale in the role, but as a different Batman.....without the throat cancer and everything.
Damn smh, DC loves playing my boy Supes lol
@punyparker: I wasn't a big fan on Bale's Batman, he did a great job as Bruce Wayne, imo. Ben Affleck's Batman looks perfect, he looks like an unstoppable force of justice, and he actually looks terrifying. Can't wait to see this movie, it hurts... lol
Bruh, and this thread is in the Batman forum??! Lmao!!!!
It ain't Superman's time son!
Obviously Batman had prep before the movie was finished and found a way to get his name top-billing over Supes in his own sequel.
Wait, if this was supposed to be a Man of Steel sequel, shouldn't the title have been Superman vs Batman?
Nope, it's Batman's movie now.
he looks like an unstoppable force of justice
Stop talking about me.....jeez..... ( :P )
