Earth 616

Golden Age

Wanting to set an example for the youth of America as juvenile crime rates rose in the days prior to America joining the Second World War, teenage superheroes Toro and Bucky gathered together a gang of spirited youths from different areas and social background; Knuckles was a tough kid from Brooklyn, Jeff a rich bookworm and inventor, " Whitewash" a black kid from Harlem, and Tubby, a fat kid. This group, dubbed the Young Allies, went on to fight both crime and Nazi agents.

Heroic Age

Nomad, Firestar, Araña, Gravity and Toro (Benito Serrano) created a second incarnation of Young Allies accidentally when they all coincidently arrived to battle the Bastards of Evil, the murderous children of Super-Villains. "The basic idea for the book is that they're fighting for the soul of their generation. That comes to the fore immediately with the introduction of the Bastards of Evil, who are the unwanted sons and daughters of supervillains of course," says Sean McKeever, writer for Young Allies. The Young Allies defeated the Bastards of Evil, but most seemed reluctant to form an official superhero team. Still, they five became close friends and (perhaps begrudingly to humor Nomad) started to refer to each other as the Young Allies.

Members of both the Young Allies and the Avengers Academy were kidnapped by the psychotic assassin Arcade. Forced to play part in his demented games, Spider-Girl (formerly Araña) and Reptil were able to save the other members of their respective teams, while also showing mild romantic interest in each other.

Later, the Young Allies battled Onslaught alongside the Secret Avengers. During the fight, it was revealed that Nomad was being used as a tether to the main Marvel universe by Onslaught. Nomad forced Gravity to seemingly kill her, so that the tether would be broken. Despite losing their default leader (seeing how she was the only one who wanted to be superhero team in the first place), the Young Allies remained a group of like-minded adventurers, most recently appearing in the Spider-Island story line without Toro.

Counter-Earth

Another team called the Young Allies exists on Counter-Earth. The members are: Bucky (Ricki Barnes), Jolt, Kid Colt (Elric Whitemane), O & K, Toro (Benito Serrano) and IQ.

The Young Allies came into conflict with the Redeemers, a US-government-backed team related to the Thunderbolts, while the Redeemers were supervised by Captain America, who, due to amnesia, had forgotten his time on the other Earth with the Allies' Bucky . The conflict was caused by Allies' creation of a hoax chemical weapons scare in the "main" Earth's Latveria in an attempt to force Doctor Doom, the then-ruler of Counter-Earth, to distribute food and medicine more evenly. When they left, Bucky was left sore that Cap thought she'd be capable of really using a WMD, causing Cap to lie to Doom that other canisters had been hidden.

Later, they encountered the Thunderbolts themselves on their home world, while a rift called the Void was threatening to destroy both worlds. During the crisis' climax the Thunderbolts where returned home, however Jolt, remained behind on Counter Earth and joined the team in continuing to stabilize and re-order their world..

Recently, the Exlies visited Counter-Earth to save it from Proteus the reality warping mutant who had taken over the Exile's teammate Morph's body. At first, Proteus convinced the Young Allies to fight the Exiles. The Young Allies later figured out the truth when Proteus was enjoying torturing the Exiles. Proteus seemed to be winning, but two cosmic entities known as "O" and "K" - who until them been working with the Young Allies, ripped Proteus away from the Exiles, saying that they've been waiting for him. They supplied Proteus with an army of nukes to descide the fate of the world.

Empress Dorma of Atlantis and Proteus clashed, resulting in Proteus taking Dorma's crown. He raised Atlantis up from the ocean floor, which killed the entire population. The Exiles arrived with the Young Allies at Atlantis. Proteus then launched the nukes. Luckily, Colt and Jolt stopped the nukes without detonating them. Proteus had the Exiles and the Young Allies easily on the ropes. Protus put his dislodged crown back on to gloat, however unbeknownst to him, Blink had rigged it with a behaviour modifier device which caused Proteus to believe he really was Morph, trapping Proteus persona in Morph's body. The Exiles then teleported back to Panoptichron and sent the last remaining nukes harmlessly into space.

As they left The Young Allies thanked the Exiles for saving their world from the nukes, Dorma, and Proteus.)
