It's 5am and Joe "the Renegade" sits alone in the bar. The lights are dim and there is no one around. Smoke still lingers in the air from the crowd which was in the bar only hours before. Joe is sitting at a table facing the door. He holds his favorite revolver, a model 29, 44 magnum in his lap. Joe is waiting for someone to arrive. The meeting could go good or turn ugly, that would be up to the individual on their way to the bar.
Joe sits quietly and then hears the sound of a car pulling up in front of the bar. He hears the car door shut, only one door closes so that is good, the person came alone as they were told to do.
To Joe's surprise in walks a woman. Dressed in a business suit she slowly walks over to the table where Joe is. She starts to speak but Joe interrupts her. DIdn't expect you, where is that slacker Steve. He afraid to come or what.
She gathered herself, trying to hide the fear she felt but her eyes gave her away. He sent me, you wanted this information, so it shouldn't matter who brings it, should it?
Joe looks at her and watches as she stands there obviously uncomfortable with the silence and not knowing what she should do next. Then she lays the folder on the table in front of her and slides the folder toward Joe. He uses his free hand to open the folder, take a quick look and then close it. Pull the chair in front of you away from the table. She slowly does as she is told, not knowing what is going to happen next. In the chair she finds a bag. She looks at the bag then back at Joe.
Joe says "there is your money, you can take it and go, if everything I paid for is not in the folder you will be hearing from me again, soon."
She smiles at Joe and picks up the bag, then turns and walks back out the door. Once Joe hears the car drive away he opens the folder and begins to read. After he finishes reading he closes the folder and thinks. Just as I thought, its amazing what one can find out with just a little research and knowing who to ask. He slams his fist down on the table and gets up and locks the door.
