    Fantastic? Four

    The Good

Garney's art, although not as impressive as 605. Another good point is that not knowing key plot points at the start kept you reading until the end.

    The Bad

For me the best thing about the issue is you start off knowing nothing then you gradually get an extra piece of the story each page, but unfortunately the payoff felt lack-luster and underwhelming. I have read all of Hickman’s run so far but I have no clue who the guy whose body they are inside is. A lot of the panels seemed extra large to make the story end quicker. It's like Hickman just wants to get this issue out of the way to fill a gap at the end of his run, or to get it out of the way for the black panther story next issue. Also finally I found it stupid when Reed controlled that white blood cell, it just seemed like a cop out.

    Verdict

I love Hickman but this story was a 3/5 at best. Wolverine and the x-men did a similar story to this and Jason Aaron did it much better. However I am looking forward to next issues black panther story and when Ryan Stegman starts drawing Fantastic Four.

Hickman wrapped up an amazing epic just a few issues ago, and the ones following demonstrated he knows how to write standalone short tales equally as well. But then he gives us something like this. This is not one of Hickman's great standalone stories, this one is.... well intentioned but poorly written. It's surprising actually, because the premise is fine, but the actual pacing and handling are just.... well.... terrible. For starters, Hickman's the one who made me like Fantastic Four, so I had...

Oh, you're still here, Hickman? 0

I don't really get why this issue is here. I know Hickman's not quite done yet with his run on Fantastic Four, but with him having tied up most of his long-running plot threads in the last few issues, this stand-alone issue just feels... trivial. I've loved Hickman's run on Fantastic Four and I don't want it to end but if stuff like this is what it's got left now that his primary story is done, I wish he was already gone so the run could end on a high point. Maybe it's a fluke. So this issue open...
