At the age of six, Megan Daemon participated in a satanic ritual that resulted in her mother's gruesome death. Daemon had been drawn into this ritual by her sister, Alisabeth. When Daemon came of age, Alisabeth again led her in performing the same ritual. This time, it was their father who came to a horrific end. Alisabeth departed the Daemon Estate, leaving her younger sister to manage it. Upon Alisabeth's return, another dark ritual was performed, this time without Daemon's participation, resulting in the grisly deaths of the town elders.

Alisabeth departed anew, leaving Daemon full claim to the estate, as well as a mystuc token to focus Daemon's sorcerous abilities. Daemon is courted by Ian MacInnis, a Major in the Royal Scots Borderers. MacInnis draws Daemon away from the estate, on holiday. Daemon, ad MacInnis, encounter Alisabeth, performing another ritual, at Stonehenge. Daemon, and MacInnis, are overwhelmed by Alisabeth's cultists, regaining consciousness aboard the German airship, The Hindenburg. Alisabeth confronts Daemon, and MacInnis, spiriting her sister away.

Alisabeth unlocked a gate, at Stonehenge, to a dark realm, and now intends to open it, releasing a demonic abomination on the world. MacInnis guns Alisabeth down. Unbeknownst to MacInnis, Alisabeth's death actually throws the gate wide. Daemon destroys the demon, in fire, but unwittingly destroys the Hindenburg, along with it. Safe Streets

The Daughters of the Dragon, Coleen Wing and Misty Knight, flee through the streets of New York. Their predicament began with the death of Dominic Ferrara, a friend on the police force. At the crime scene, Knight had seemed to recognize someone. That someone turned out to be Angela Freeman, an old friend of Knight's, who paid a call on her that evening. Knight was unable to recall the events of the evening, but awoke wearing Freeman's choker. Investigating Ferrara's death, Knight discovered a similar piece of jewelry in his belongings, suggested a connection to Freeman. Ferrara, also, had apparently been dead for ten days, despite reporting to work each of those days.

.Knight began investigating Freeman, learning that Freeman was investigating a series of murders, in an upscale part of the city. Freeman disappeared for a time, then dropped the investigation, upon her return. Freeman encounters Knight on the street. Freeman, and Knight, share a cab ride. Knight shares her ridiculous notion that Freeman might be a vampire. Freeman, however, is a vampire, and attacks Knight. Unbeknownst to Knight, she was being surreptitiously followed by Wing, who had grown concerned over Knight's strange behavior. Freeman, however, was aware of Wing's presence, and warns her away.

Realizing that Freeman's link to Knight is allowing their pursuers to track them, Knight breaks away from Wing. Knight is taken, but Wing escapes. Wing confronts the Burkes, a married couple with ties to Freeman. The Burkes give up Freeman's location. Armed to the teeth, Wing storms Freeman's lair. Wing keeps Freeman away from Knight, to keep her from turning Knight into a vampire. Wing is taken by surprise when Knight attacks her, clearly in thrall to Freeman. Freeman orders Knight to turn Wing into a vampire, but Knight rebels. Knight, and Wing, slay Freeman. With the case closed, Knight and Wing take a much needed vacation.
