Less good but still good
The good
The series is very mysterious. We don't know what to expect, especially with the main character (is he a bad guy now or not?). Spencer is known to slower build stories (check out his morning glories, we still don't have the big picture). It can be a good thing, like in morning glories, but it could be bad like in Ultimate X-men. With this series, although we are only at issue 2, we know he's plotting something big slowly and it works. It's not a perfect rating because it only focuses on certain small elements (and it's sooo not as good as the first issue), but we know this is a psychological story so a slow building is perfect.
The art... I love it. Some might think it's rushed, but I feel it's perfect for the tone of the book: a crazy, dark and twisted story. There is one scene where we see a bad guy (I guess he's the bad guy, but who knows considering our main character was one before) that was very disturbing and the art focused very well on that aspect.
The bad
Like I said, it's a build up issue, so it was a little disappointing, but looking at the big picture, you can understand it was necessary.
So what's the verdict?
Bedlam is building towards something very twisted. It might seem slow paced, but it's a necessary aspect to a book so psychologically focused.
