Young X-Meh....
This trade paperback collects issues 1-5 of the 2008 Young X-Men series. I really only bought this book because of Blindfold, as she's become one of my new favorite characters. In this first arc, Cyclops forms a new team of X-Men to take down and kill Sunspot and some of his fellow New Mutants.
The Good:
There just wasn't anything in this story that I would even consider remotely good. The art is wildly inconsistent and the story has more plot holes than a small block of Swiss cheese.
The Bad:
To sum it up in a nutshell, the 5 members of the Young X-Men are alone with "Cyclops" and their mini Cerebros only detect 5 mutants in the local vicinity. This doesn't come as a red flag to any of them as "Cyclops" casually brushes the notion off and sends them to kill some of the New Mutants. Not to mention Cyclops sending them on missions to kill anyone at this point in history was absurd. I realize times were desperate following Messiah complex but this entire arc reeked of terrible writing despite the fact that I am such a fan of many characters used here. I'd avoid this trade and refuse to go on a bigger rant since I purchased it from the bargain bin.
