Awesome art and team dynamics... Jubilee just went for a nap?
There are some great concepts about this book that I enjoy a lot. I totally dig the idea of an all female X-Men book. I tension from the perceived leaders of this team (Rachel and Ororo) is a concept that has been used before in the past yet Brian Wood writes in a way that it makes it fresh.
I have only been getting Marvel comics for eighteen months and these two ladies are quickly becoming two of my favorite characters. It does appear that Rogue and Kitty Pride are taking sides already, which I feel adds a new dimension to the story. Young Cyclops and Jean Grey appear to be developing their personalities slowly which is understandable as they are not the heroes everybody knows.
I don't really see what Jubilee is bringing to this book and yet I remember reading on early articles that she was going to be the central character in this series. After getting half an issue last month (where according to what I read on the forums could well have been her farewell) she just shows up, point out the obvious, comes back later saying she is tired and goes for a nap. I felt like that I might have missed a page or two where she did anything that mattered.
I feel that she has no contribution to the story and yes, I understand that this is a crossover whose central characters are the main cast of a different book but every other cast member (Storm, Rogue, Rachel and Kitty Pryde) contribute to the plot. One has to wonder whether B.Wood has decided to change his strategy for this book completely and downgrade Jubilee from protagonist to background character.
To leave on a positive note, I love the idea of a conflict of interests between good guys and the absence of a big bad.
