Realm War begins...whatever
This number 1 issue feels to me a lot more like a O issue. The pages are spend by getting everyone up to speed about what is going on in the GFT world but the explaining is done from a safe location by filler characters mosdt of which do not survive the issue.
I feel really disappointed about this as this was a excellent opportunity to establish the main characters to new readers or maybe introduce new players into the story. Instead we got a lot of filler characters doing too much talking and only a few cameos of some main players in GFT dishing some punishment on minions (again more filler).
I enjoy some character designs shown on this first issue, particularly the Blood Knight but I think the coloring and inking does not really help convey the message of 'end of the world' and most of the minions end up looking like extras from the Chronicles of Narnia first movie. The pages also have too many panels in my opinion.
I would really like some new baddies to be introduced on next issue or so.Since I pick up Robyn Hood Legend and Clash of Queens, i think i will stick around for another issue or two but I see readership on this event series falling fast unless some changes are made.
