    Interesting change

The issue opens up straight from the last one, with Diana, Ranagor and his army preparing to lay siege on the castle.   There is a great feast to celebrate what might be their last day alive.   Diana leaves but Ranagor follows her, wanting to know more about what brought her here.

This is as much of a concession to the readers as it is to Ranagor because I guess not many picked up the earlier issues when she switched to mod girl, and people wanted the reasoning behind it.   Speaking in flashback Diana explains he she became depowered, and then studied under I-Ching.

There is a battle which is out of place for the fantasy setting of the issue, how Diana and I-Ching are fighting toy like robots.   Still it does a good job at showing what has led her here.   At the end of the flashback there is a short attack from the tower reminding where the action which will next issue.   Overall the issue is not as good as the one that preceded it.   It feels sort of out of place in the three issue story arc.   It was still interesting enough though.   Another interesting aspect was the cover.   During Diana’s mod girl years she quite often broke the fourth wall with the reader and talked to them directly on the cover.   It’s the case here as well, and while sometimes breaking the fourth wall seems weird, I thought it worked well here.
