Nearing 100, But Everything Is Not All Good For The Survivors

The story arc Something to fear continues! As the group has recently recovered from loosing another member, Rick again has to think about his friends and family and make sure they are protected no matter what. This will probably end badly for the group. Written by Robert Kirkman with artwork by Charlie Adlard and Cliff Rathburn.

    The Good

    No Caption Provided

With the recent death of Abraham, each member of the group is now recovering in their own way. As the anticipation for issue 100 is immense, Robert Kirkman begins setting the playing field of how the characters may react to one another in future issues. Carl and Rick for example, the two have been through a lot with one another, and since Lori's death, Rick has been wanting to protect Carl even more, but now with Andrea getting extremely "familiar" with Rick, it begins to make Carl even more cold. While he has progressively gotten more hardened in this zombie infested world and also he's beginning to loose trust in his father and eventually a better world where there are no zombies. The character drama in this issue is heavy and shows how characters like Carl are being impacted the most in this world.

The artwork, as usual, really captures the tone of this comic. While most comics use colors to convey how the characters react to each other as well as the world, the B&W nature of The Walking Dead shows how things can be changed within an instant and forever shape how people look/read this comic. Charlie and Cliff really do a great job at capturing the morbid feel of this issue and also the readers expectation of what is going to happen next.

    The Bad

There wasn't much action. However, this being the issue before 100, I would assume that Kirkman is setting the playing field for a monumental threat that will shake the very fabric of this series.

    The Verdict

If you aren't reading this series, then you should be picking it up. The Walking Dead come book is just as good as the TV series and you won't regret it!
