Rise of The Revenant
The Revenant vs. The Man-ThingFollowing the failed attempt by the new
Midnight Sons to rid Earth-616 of the Zombie Virus which had been spread to the mainstream Marvel Universe by the
Deadpool and
Morbius of
Earth-2149, a massive cloud which absorbed all life into it and unleashed an endless rain of acidic infected blood began moving it's way through The Man-Thing's swamp.
Oddly enough the cloud seemed to be following
Simon Garth a.k.a. The Zombie and the decapitated head of Earth-2149's Deadpool around as they traveled through the swamp. Deadpool's negative reaction to the rain after suspecting that they might be the cause of it all drew
The Man-Thing towards them both.
VictoriousFearing for their undead lives, Deadpool tapped into the dark power this "Revenant Cloud" held and stitched together the corpses of multiple deceased superhumans (
The Ogre,
Lightning Fist,
Razor Wire) in order to form a much more powerful body with which to fight The Man-Thing.
Infuriated, The Revenant lashed out at Man-Thing, and after a fierce fight with it, apparently killed Man-Thing by separating it from the Earth which is what allowed Man-Thing to regenerate faster than the acidic infected rain could kill him.
Jennifer Kale, whom became a servant of
Dormammu, severed Deadpool's connection to the Revenant Cloud and stopped the virus.
Powers The Revenant possessed the Ogre's super strength, Lightning Fist's electrical powers, and had the ability to turn living beings into zombies. It could also control a zombie virus cloud which ate away at or infected any living creature in it's path.
