Unfortunately, that's pretty much what Superman has become. Just look at Final Crisis.@TheGoldenOne said:

Yep.
Deux ex machina strength (whatever level the story requires), which means Supes has unlimited strength.

@King Saturn:Sorry i confused that with all star superman
@TheSpiritStalker: what's the max he has done so far though?
I honestly don't think he has a max limit. I know his strength is 1,000,000+ tonnes. When he absorbs enough solar energy he could be as stronger or stronger than Darkseid. So it could be undefined to say that it's limitless.
I don't recall superman has a limit on strength. In the history of Comics they never capped him not even the Silver-age version. All his feat was down with no effort.
I think it's about 67 quintillion tonnes... I'm saying this because in all-star superman his strength was tripled... In this state he was able to lift 200 quintillion tonnes and felt like he could do more... so 200/3= 67 aproximately.... sorry to bring math into this I just want an opinion :)
Depends which version. I don't know about current, but Pre-Flashpoint was barely capable of moving the Earth. So PF Superman's limit would be somewhere a little higher than a planet's weight. Pre-Crisis, no clue at all if he even had a max strength limit. He moved a star by breathing, and carried planets effortlessly.

There were three scans of him moving the planet. One was with him wonder woman, john / the other was him pulling by him self while Hal Jordan provide the Harness the other was Him pulling some alien planet by him self with some chains the only catch with that was you couldn't tell the size.

*clap clap clap* just because you used "deus ex machine" in the proper context lol
Strong enough to defeat the problem, but weak enough to make it look like he juuuuust overcomes it.
He's as strong as the plot requires him to be.
That....is...pure...BS...

Is it?
@deranged_midget: What if he needed to lift the universe >_>
@pyrogram: Must we unrealistically push the boundaries? The stories haven't been that ridiculous since the Silver Age.
@deranged_midget: Don't you love the way they were that ridiculous once though :P
@pyrogram: Oh it's beyond hilarious. Trying to go back and read some of those issues requires a completely different mindset. And I don't even want to start with those Golden Age stories :P
@deranged_midget: I know right. Some old Thor stuff is just... -_- inducing.
@pyrogram: Why ? It's fiction ^-^
@fuchsia_nightingale: FIction is not an excuse for stupid :P
@pyrogram: But it's fiction ^-^
@fuchsia_nightingale: Not an excuse though, or the quality would be bad,
@pyrogram: Okay ^-^
I'd say he typically varies from vaguely "mountain-moving" to vaguely "planetary" in scale given the setting of the story. Sometimes higher or lower than that but i think most showings would fit that range.
no he is stronger than a locomotive and he's stronger than you
DID YOU JUST... REPLY TO MY POST FROM 2 YEARS AGO?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Also, no. He's not stronger than a locomotive back in AC#1 (New 52).
@ssejllenrad: well that may be but he is stronger that u and me combine so there u have it
Hayden
@haydster10: What are you going on about?
