A lot of things had happened in Spider-Island and I think that is one of the reasons this Spider-man story arc was so good. I can't wait to see how all of these new stories come into future issues of the Amazing Spider-man
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17254 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Six Ways Spider-Island Has Changed THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Well, guess I'm all caught up on ASM now. Still not interested in reading. Maybe if Casselli stayed on art and the book dropped to 2.99...then maybe.

I just realized that Parker does pretty much catch a LOT of breaks.
Two that come to mind would be Mephisto erasing everyone's memory of him unmasking himself, and then this OMIT thing you mentioned.
That OMIT thing that got undone.
Also, he doesn't catch a lot of breaks. You've only listed two, and when you weigh that against.... HIS ENTIRE LIFE.... it's not a lot.

why couldnt they give him back the organic webbing, im one of the people who actually liked it... Also super dissapointed Caselli didnt do the artwork for all of spider-island instead of just the prologue and epilogue his artwork is great.
You aren't alone! I liked the organic webbing too! But back on the topic at hand Spider-Island was a very solid event. Plus we all know MJ and Peter are gonna get back together...I liked Carlie a lot but come on, she was up against MJ in all our hearts and minds.
And so Kaine becomes the Scarlet Spider, Peter Parker is still due for his suffering checkup, and Eddie Brock is a public hero... Looks like more fun to come =)

That whole "Peter Parker is the disguise" thing is waaaaaay too Batman. Pretty weak writing, especially when Spider-Man is all about the humanity of the character.
thats just how cooper saw it. she couldnt be more wrong ofcourse but by not knowing that spiderman is influaece by parkers persona she believes the suit is who hew is. spiderman who goes about fighting vlillains and risking his life for people and is in the roster in the team compose of earths mightiest heroes that who ir what she thinks he truly is. instead of just a part of him

Last.............thought Jackal died? Didn't the Queen blow him up with her sonic scream?
Easy way out or a way to show how 'smart' and prepared Jackal is/was? Seems more fitting that he wouldn't put himself in danger like that. The Queen wasn't the most stable person.
Spidey is one of those characters I wish I could keep up with. Like Superman though, he has thousands of back issues and I don't like being caught up by a summary. Was this arc any good?
Wow, I should definitely pick this up sometime if it comes out in trade. Lots of changes though, but if anything comics have taught me, they tell me that whatever dramatic changes come in ways of superheroes and/or villains, they will either cope with them or things will go back to normal. At any rate, it is nice to see Brock as a good guy again. As for him and Carlie being splits-ville, that's just fine by me. Never did take much to them being together. With no more magical powers to protect his identity I guess that means Peter's just gonna have to work all the harder to keep it a secret. Be interesting to see how things go in the months ahead!
@InnerVenom123: ... don't forget that he got the biggest break of all: Super powers!
While us normal folk have to go on.. bein' normal. :(

So wait... What happened to Araña/Spider-Girl? Did she loose her powers too?
It seems like OMD, BND, OMIT and Big Time are starting to be resolved but I do admit that there were a lot of great stories during those arcs!
We have the new scarlet spider........and is kaine....sad but true, it was way too good to be true but you never know when ben reily might show up eventually (plus we have a new scarlet spider ongoing which i hope is as a good as all the current spider-man tittles) . It's great that pete is single and with his spider sense again. Carly was a pain in the butt really, she would only complain and complain all the time about peter not being around and now that she knows why, she thinks peter is like batman that he is truly spider-man instead of being the one under the mask. If a spidey girlfriend doesn't even know that, she is not worthy of our hero. Plus I can't wait for more
@FoxxFireArt: all you wrote, makes perfect sense I really like it when someone's doing his homework, really well played and I hope there's more people thinking as rational as you out there.

He's had other breaks. I mean.. Clone Saga.. Nyaahahahaha! Kidding.. :p
@MasterofChaos: Yep. In the One More Day story arc, Peter and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto to save his Aunt May's life. In return, they gave him their marriage, thereby erasing it from the past. Peter then started dating Carlie with no recollection of marrying Mary Jane. All he and MJ remembers is that they dated for a long time.
@RedheadedAtrocitus: You definitely need to read this! It is one of the best story arcs I have read. It was amazing!
I feel so sorry for Slott and the other people working on Spider-man, they have to follow that embarrasing trashed they forced on fans. It's still unfathomable what they did, becuase it's stupid and pointless in so many ways. There's no point of a story about UNmasking that leads to getting rid of his marriage. Infact, it's such a big idea, they should of either made an event out of it or dropped the idea. I don't care about Aunt May nearly dying for the thousandth time. She died alrready. It was great. Spider-man could finally be his own man then. Ben or Peter. Who knows?
I say this, because it was the worst idea ever and they still did it and it's still mentioned in almost every article about Spider-man. It's so sad. I loved Spider-man. He was the best character ever and they made him into a pathetic loser. There's nothing moral or 'responsible' about not using your head and cheating your way out of a situation at the expense of others. In this the case the expense of an entire universe.
I'm sure Slott's doing his best.

They left it kinda vague. She definitely got a cure, but she's seen webslinging.... not swinging with those cable things she had before, because they look REALLY like actual webbing (could just be an artist error).
why did kaine have stingers? why did he keep his spider-powers when falling in a vat of anti-venom ooze when being just near venom cancels peter's powers? Ahhh. Forget it.
Looking forward to more kung-fu spider sense action. His experience can now be quantified and mark him as THE spider-man in a sea of scarlet spiders.
Also Kaine has become basically what peter was after the Other except without the any part of his body sticking (back, etc) and beign able to feel wind currents and such on webs. But he has organic webbing and the stingers (except his are on the backs of his hands like Wolvies claws).
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Spider-man and Ms. Marvel, that would be awesome. I'm glad he's got his spider sense back he wasn't whole without it. I loved Anti-Venom, hope he returns in some form or another. Kaine is great, the flawed creation is always an interesting aspect and his Tarantula form was cool, I'd like for him to be able to change into that, doubt it will happen though.
Im cool with pete and MJ being friends, but I dont want the mto be dating or married. Otherwise BND would be pointless. What would be the point of ending the marriage just to retcon it after a major retcon with OMD-BND. It would be a retconned retcon, and that is not just confusing but also a constant loop of stupid
@Chibio: Wow...You never supported Peter and MJ? I am curious why not...just seems to be such a big part of what Peter Parker is as a character
Its funny you put this article on now as I had just finished catching up on this story arc so now I know what people are talking about. lol
Glad Eddie is finally getting the good guy treatment, he redeemed himself years ago in my opinion... That said, why did he get so puny all the sudden, I mean, Mr. Fantastic is taller and more muscular in that picture, Eddie is billed as being 6'3 without the symbiote, and despite his bout with cancer is a fitness nut who had above olympic levels of strength without his symbiote... so now that he got depowered he shrank and got skinnier? Or did Mr. Douschtastic just pump up and stretch taller for the camera? LOL
Another thing I will say is that Kaine refusing to give back the suit reminded me a lot of a reverse of Ben Reiley refusing to accept it from Peter at the end of Exiled, right down to Kaine looking a lot like Ben did at the end of that story arc with the long hair and beard
@EganTheVile1: He lost a lot of muscle due to his bout with cancer. As for the height, your explanation about Reed fits.
Loved this spidy event! made me really back into spider-man have gone bak and started re reading since big time

Makes sense, though I have seen quite a few artists still depicting Brock as a pretty buff guy since the cancer bout, but I digress, regaining that level of muscle tone would take years after something like that, and Reed making himself look taller and stronger just makes me like him less... Wonder if the artist did that intentionally to showcase Reed's egomania?
As for whether or not Eddie will get some powers again, I say if he does not get the Venom symbiote back it is a bad move by the writers, Eddie is Venom, Flash can go cyborg to walk again, give Eddie the symbiote back!

Disagree. Eddie hates being Venom and has since the late 90s, it's way past time for him to move on. During Gargan's era I wanted Eddie to get the symbiote back, but with Flash wearing it, I want Eddie to stay away.

You may be right, though on a serious, though perhaps far fetched idea of where he goes from here... Do you think Eddie will join the Future Foundation? Maybe even be artificially given fire powers so he can permanently repel symbiotes and become the new Human Torch? Terrible ideas, I know, just typing out stray thoughts...

I don't see why the Future Foundation would need a member who could repel symbiotes... so uh, no.
Ever since "Grim Hunt" the Spider saga has been going in many different directions. But hearing any news from Madame Web is not always good. Even the dream from way back in ish #500 still echoes "Grim Hunt's" other ending. We never really knew who's perspective it was, but that it was a foreshadowing of something really bad. But MJ getting back with Pete wouldn't be too bad. Its just the "secret spell" fading away, now that is going to be scary.
