Making a change for the better.
Last issue. Spider-Man 2099 faces off against Scorpion!
The Good
One of the good things about this issue was the cover! Drawn by Francesco Mattina, Mattina did an outstanding job with literally everything! (i.e. the colors, style, design, etc.) This is just one of those covers that are worth placing on a wall as a poster. Now that, that is out of the way, let's move on!
The Spider-Man 2099 vs. Scorpion fight was well scripted. Writer Peter David had a perfect story of having Miguel and Tiberius going overseas to sell Spider-Slayers to a nation at war, and how that all went downhill really quickly. (Last issue.) However, in this issue with the fight between Spider-Man 2099 and Scorpion, and Tiberius maybe realizing that selling weapons to a country at war with itself is not a good idea, was pretty interesting to see. You can infer from what David did in this issue, that he's going to start pushing Tiberius towards the road of making the right choices in life. (Ultimately making him a better person, instead of the monster he's known in 2099 as.) It is interesting to see how Spider-Man 2099/Miguel is shaping his grandfather, Tiberius' future and might even make himself cease to exist. While it is too early to tell, Peter David did a great job at having everything in this issue move the story forward and throw in some interesting ideas/questions.
The Bad
No complaints.
The Verdict
5 out of 5! Until the next issue!
