Finally saw this and... yeah, it has problems. Oh, does it ever. I'd certainly put it toward the bottom of the 20 DC animated movies we've had so far. To be fair, it has its strengths. Damian is well portrayed, starting as a little brat who shakes things up and leads to some truly great exchanges between him and a couple of more established Batman characters. The action is well done, Nightwing's introduction is fantastic, and he story fits the run time well, not feeling too short or rushed. I'm actually okay with O'Mara's Batman, it reminds me of Bruce Greenwood's take which I loved, though he does show some limitations, like his "outburst" after he pushes the chair across the room.

But its treatment of Deathstroke almost completely derails it. He is a completely ineffectual villain, easily bested by Batman, unable to defeat a 10-year-old, and easily the worst portrayal of the character I've seen. They could have demonstrated Damian's skills while still making it clear he's overmatched, perhaps give us a good fight where Deathstroke is giving Bats trouble with a last second assist from Damian leading to victory. Instead, the movie weakens Deathstroke and just ends up damaging itself.

Is the infamous Batman/Green Lantern scene the moment where Batman manages to slip off GL's ring?

By strongest, I assume we mean who could, say, lift the most neutronium? I would agree with those who might guess Supergirl or Power Girl. Pure strength, I think they probably have more. Or at least Supergirl will at some point.

I don't know, is she strong enough to just punch through his constructs? Or maybe she'd just avoid them until she could get close enough to clock him.

I don't think so. Then again, after Green Lantern, I'm not sure what they would consider to be good enough for release.

I lean toward the classic costume, so 2009.

I remember reading about this for Spider-Man, but this is the first I'd heard for X-Men as well. Which makes sense, because they were the same company, weren't they?

It does remind me of the commentaries for Batman's DVDs, where the creators talked about how they liked when they had robotic characters because then they could have Batman or whoever just go to town on them. So even that had some censorship, though obviously not at the level of the Marvel shows.

They never released season four on DVD? That's bizarre.

Jennifer Lawrence, probably.

I did love Evan Peters, though. Made me laugh thinking about a podcast I heard where someone had noted Quicksilver in Avengers would be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and X-Men would have "some other actor". As an American Horror Story, I was a little annoyed by that, so when he did such a great job I was even more entertained.

As a dark horse, I want to throw in Nicholas Hoult, who in spite of being in so many scenes felt underutilized. And his quiet reactions to discussing or seeing Mystique made me disappointed that they didn't really exchange any dialogue, especially after that picture of the two of them apparently rather tense on the floor.

@devilsgrin81:

I don't think she'd need to be in place of anyone. They could have just had an extra mutant in the future scenes.
