Should have called the whole thing Justice League of America #0 0

As a final chapter for a 6 issue event, this issue was just ok as it had good art, provided some good moments and finished the story with a decent conclusion; unfortunately the final boss is quickly defeated and the story as Rebirth's first event it was very disappointingThe story was nothing special and doesn't need much explanation: things are bad all over the world, the new JL is fighting the old JL with each member slowly succumbing to Eclipso's influence, Batman comes up with a plan, Killer...

JL vs SS round 2...maybe next issue 0

With the JL under his command, in just 15 minutes Mawell Lord took control of the USA as a first step to make a peaceful world and Batman knows there's no way to stop the JL but he still decides to go to Washington and fight; luckily for him the SS and Lobo want to help (everyone for their own reason) so Batman has no other option than to accept their offer and declare them the new Justice League. Meanwhile in Washington, Lord shows Waller how he is bringing peace to the worldwith some unexpecte...

Its Trinity War 2.0!!! 0

Do you remember how The Justice League suddenly faced an enemy until then unknown to them? An enemy that had been preparing for a log time to face them and secretly recruiting a bad ass evil team? How the JL teamed with a Waller's team of which they also didnt know nothing about until the event's first issue? How ultimately the JL became corrupted by some magic artifact? Well that was Trinity War back in 2013 and this is almost the exact same thing only that I enjoyed the old one moreThis time t...

The original Suicide Squad 0

Now this is a what a suicide squad story looks like, no team drama, just a plain solid story of action and betrayalThis tie-in once again takes place before the main event, this time several years ago, to when Waller first deployed the Suicide SquadThe squad's first mission was supposed to infiltrate Nourth Kourea to sabotage a metahuman development program that put the world in risk of war; obviously things don't go exactly as planned when the squad does a little of improvisation and stops list...

A bigger team 0

With no fight taking place in this issue we finally get to see a story start to develop. With the JL captive in Belle Reve, Batman gets to escape just as Waller wanted and the two get to the cheese of why she wanted the JL (yeah, like it was part of your plan that the JL showed up in the last mission, saved Deadshot and got captured by a stroke of luck). Meanwhile the bad guys seem to have stopped talking long enough to finally be ready to attackThis issue dedicated a part of its pages to present...

Rise to power 0

A very well done origin story as well as a great tie-in story that provides much needed context to the main story, and althought I don't thinks it is essential, I highly recommend it.As the comic tells us, this tale takes place before the first issue of JLvsSS and narrates via a Waller interrogation of a captive Maxwell Lord, his origin and motivation as well as establish pretty much very clear how his gift works; and although his backstory is very brief and not very exciting, the rest of the st...

Diana meets Wonder Woman 0

The story keeps moving slowly but still much better than last issue just because once again the developing friendship between our heroes takes the spotlight and Diana really shines in this issueIts Diana's turn to experience his greatest desire which since this is Rebirth it deals with her returning to Paradise Island but with a little twist that involves them arriving at a time when Diana was still a teen which of course complicates Wonder Woman's explanation of who she is and why she is there....

Issues 22-26 review 0

With the war almost lost Grayson calls the cavalry in order to stall Mother's kids soldiers around the world while he directly confronts her and rescues Harper and Cassandra; meanwhile in Mother's arctic base Harper has to choose if she really believes she should have been Batman's partner or if she should join Mother insteadThis last part of the series was satisfactory enough, the stakes felt high, the battles were intense and the ending provided a new status quo for some charactersOverall this...

Issues 19-21 review 0

In our last trip to the past, Batman learns about Mother's origin and I have to say its a little disappointingIn the present, its all war on Spyral's HQ as not only are they being attacked by an army of kids including Spyral's own trained girl assassins, Cassandra, Tim and Harper, but also Orphan is out of his cage. Thanks to the fact that Scarecrow's fear gas disrupts Mother's signal (just go with it), Tim and Cassie regain their senses and get back to fight on the good side and once again our ...

Issues 13-18 review 0

Batman's adventures in the past come to and end as we see his confrontation with Mother and why he thought she was dead. Its not common that you see Batman fail and I think it was handled very well here because you see him realize he screwed it and now has to think what is the best he can do to compensate itBlue teams reunites in The Nursery only to find it mostly empty and after running out of clues decide to go to Spyral's HQ to try to get some info out of Orphan with Harper learning a long ov...

Issues 7-12 review 0

The team has split up: (blue team) Grayson, Harper and Cassie go to Europe following the clues from Batman's old case while (read team) Tim and Jason follow the track of a signal who allowed Mother to perform an attack on Bruce. The best part of this is the one related to blue team as we start to see a friendship develop between Harper and Cassie, but also the awaited meeting between Grayson and Mother which only creates more questions for him about what happened with Batman all those years ago. ...

Issues 1-6 review 0

The series starts with the right foot setting an interesting mystery in Batman's past while presenting some threats in the present for our RobinsThe plot starts with a series of murderers in Gotham on the orders of a mysterious figure and executed by Orphan, a very dangerous man. Two of the targets were Dick who was betrayed by a Spyral agent and Harper Row who barely survived the Orphan. While on the hunt for the assassin, Grayson meets Cassandra who gives him a USB containing an old case file ...

Wrestlemania 0

This time there not much to say, the whoe issue is a big fight which is precisely what the series needed: known villains with a clear objective, and hey, it only took Hitch 11 issues to give us thatBut of course this being Hitch there will be negative things, in this case was the lack of Amazo which was the main attraction but only got a few panels since the story focused more on everybody trying to get their hands on the holy ipad, and the return of Jessica Cruz whose exit from the JL a few iss...

Ipad app gone rogue 0

The Justice League has arrived to arrest Mr Palmer for a crime he says he didnt commit, so while the JL and her daughter asks for explanaitions about what he has been doing and why is his code responsible for the League's troubles, we learn that he is innocent (mostly) as his only crime was planning to hack Lex and Bruce's accounts (hey, arent those the new Superman of Metropolis and Batman's business partner? good think you told Batman you were going to attack them) to get some millions to help...

One sided fight 0

The supposed big event has been way far below my expectations so in both terms of story and/or action. After last issue, I (and most people) thought that this fight was going to be very one sided with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions and I am very disappointed that we were proven right. The single matches between the JL and the SS were such a disgrace that most of them didn't last more than 1 PAGE!. Meanwhile, in Lord's secret evil lair, the other bad boys just keep talkingThe ending was not only disappoi...

Read the preview...boom...you just saved yourself $4 0

This event is something that surely many fans have been anxiously awaiting since its announcement, but after reading the first issue I am very very dissapointed with what we got (even more it being $4)If you've read the previews you practically have read half the issue, and the best part of it no less; after that there is really nothing to see here (except for Fabok's awesome art). The story moves at break neck speed like there is barely any time to present the story (if you can call this plot a...

Batman saves himself 0

Manapul as an artist is incridble, as a writer not so much.Unlike the first issue and much like the previous one, this story feels more like a one-shot rather than the continuation of a greater story. This time our heroes arrive at Gotham and obviously are forced to see again Bruce's parents getting murdered and how his young self dealt with the blame and sadnessManapul's lack of writing quality is starting to show as there is practically zero story progression, no character development, dialogu...

The hacker that attacked the JL 0

Man, Hitch's run can't end soon enoughAfter the attack that completely destroyed the Batcave (which obviously will be completely dismissed after this) Bruce goes upstairs and using a simple laptop quickly discovers who is behind the attack (why then does he needs a giant bat-computer?) and is non other than the husband of the random woman we learned last issue to be the only casualty of Hitch's opening arc.Meanwhile the rest of the JL is still battling Simon's rogue ring until Barry comes with a...

The new New Teen Titans 0

So Damian has kidnapped the old Teen Titans and braggs about how easy it was and now wants them to join him, will they accept? My first complain for this issue is that it looks like a good chunk of the first pages are a copy of the last pages from the previous one where we see Damian and the others in the Batcave and Robin giving his best impersonation of Syndrome with chains and all; and just like in The Incredibles, our heroes escape and defeat their captor which proves Damian's point of why th...

Trinity #2 0

Another great issue by Manapul who is having success focusing in the great characters at his disposal and developing them rather than having the usual big action stories. The story takes us to what appears to be Smallville in the past and our heroes arrive just in time to give papa Kent a real surprise and a heart attack scaring the little past Clark and making him run away; but dont worry, papa Kent is ok and from there the 4 join forces to search for the missing kid while Mr Kent tries to disco...

Just like the watchtower, this book is going down in flames 0

Like many of the previous issues, there is not much to see here. The whole thing is practically 2 long action sequences, one were Cyborg gets hacked and the virus drops the watchtower out of orbit and on collision course to San Francisco, and the other where the Batcave gets hacked so Batman and Alfred are attacked by all their autonomous vehicles (this last part sounds a lot like what would happen in one of those silly Silver Age comics). The story has its ups but mostly its downs, like for exa...

What do you fear? I fear this book will keep being a pile of garbage for a long time 0

The second storyline of Hitch's JL concludes and it was even worse than the first. Following last issue, the JL was infected by the unexplained goo thing they thought destroyed to make them see/realize their worst fears and do what they thought was necessary to avoid them. Unfortunately, Hitch's script takes a very uninteresting and questionable approach.- Jess fears the outside world and creates a cocoon to isolate herself from everything (boring)- Barry fears he's wasting his potential by not ...

Raven goes to highschool 0

Good start for this mini that seems to be the next Gotham Academy. What I liked about this issue and what seems will be the theme of the book, is its focus on family and friendship; and a sprinkle of teen highschool drama doesnt hurt as it is fun to see this kind of normal things thru Raven's eyes. The only negative thing I can say about this book is the lack of background. With this being part of DC's Rebirth and this mini serving as a prelude to her appearance on the new Teen Titans I expected m...

Date to forget 0

Hitch continues to dissapoint massivel and there are 3 big problems in this issue as I see it:- right from the beginning it was a big mistake to start the story in what seems the middle of story arc, right after beating the bad guys (again getting zero info about them) and before the heroes realize its not over. The problem here is that having no context about what happened before decreases the impact and credibility to what we see is happening now- second problem is that this kind of story (goo...

New team 0

Great character work and some good art and colors make for a strong startThe purpose of this issue as serve as a quick introduction to the members that will form the new Teen Titans group; to tell us very briefly who they are and what were they doing before Damian kidnapped them (in this regard I strongly recommend you to read Detective Comics 940 before this to read a great story or you could be spoiled the big news here if you dont already know)The characterization and the look of the heroes r...

New old friends 0

This issue felt short but it sure had a lot of heart. The story is simple: Lois wants that if Clark is becoming a superhero again, he should get to know again Bruce and Diana so she surprises Clark inviting them for a dinner at the farm. There is something special in seeing a group of characters that used to know each other try to rediscover their friendship and Manapul achieved it in an outstanding way. There are many funny moments during the dinner but the better part came when the characters ha...

Horrible end to a horrible story 0

First arc ends and Im grateful for that, maybe now Hitch can do a story that is not garbage. Why was this so bad? let me tell you with some simple reasons and a plot summary after those in case you are still curious but dont want to waste your money:- The story makes no sense. Through the whole arc the League came up against 3 enemies: the machines inside the Earth's core causing earthquakes that can destroy the planet, a swarm type of techno aliens aka The Purge, and 4 giant magic dudes who are...

Off to the man's world 0

There is not much to say except that so far this is an excellent story and its a shame half its issues are wasted in the Lies storyline. The council of Themyscira reunites and after examining the weapons and cloths of the men they decide this is a message from the gods that there is a new threat and its time to choose a champion to fulfill their mission. There are so many great scenes and interactions in this issue but the ones between Diana and her mother are magnificent simply because they reall...

Who is behind Wonder Woman's troubles? 0

Issue 3 of the Lies storyline and I still think this is the most boring of all the Rebirth books (still not the worst) and something big needs to happen soon because so far it is showing signs of stagnation. As in the previous issues, not much happened, Trevor is captive and will soon become a sacrifice to revive a god, Etta goes to his boss's house (who we are presented as Sasha but if she is a known DC character I don't have a clue who she is and neither are we given any background or informati...

A collage of dumb stories and vague plots 0

This books just cant improve as it keeps dealing with multiple story lines making it look like this story is composed of various dropped /rejected plots put together in a messy way until Hitch can decided which one to followAs I said, the issue continues the several storylines without making much progress in most of them and all having serious issues. Usually I try not to tell everything but in order to save you some money here it is:- Superman is still struggling in the Earth's core trying to d...

Back in black (and blue) 0

With the mess this series has been since King and Seeley left maybe it will be too much to ask for a good ending or one that at least makes sense. I had a little hope for the ending since the former writers said the left the new ones some notes as to how this series was supposed to end but I dont know if it included how the Daedalus storyline was supposed to end or if it was only about how Dick would become Nightwing again.Grayson finally comes face to face with Helena and after the obvious appr...

Truths and chases 0

Again the issue is not entirely bad but it definitely feels it is not as good as it should or could have been if King and Seeley kept writing it which is why I gave it this score I did, for the wasted potentialContinuing from last issue's disappointments, Dick is shocked to see the tracker he put in Helena has gone silent which only means she is gone and for his surprise, he is informed by Tiger that it only means that Spyral has achieved his goal of resurrecting Daedalus.Making things worse, Ti...

The battle of St. Hadrian 0

This issue features new writers because King and Seeley had to plan their new series (Batman and Nightwing respectively) for Rebirth and unfortunately Grayson and the readers have to suffer for it as this is a train-wreck in the making. Last issue set the tone for the series arriving at its big climax but it seems the new writers are instead in a big hurry. So many things happened here that it feels this issue would have been better if it was separated in 2 issues or if it only focused on the st...

The Syndicate 0

With the members of the Syndicate finally revealed, we start the issue with them; Grifter gives Tao some files about Helena and wants Tao to give him some recommendations about what should they doFrom there we jump to a jungle where our spies fight and capture Frankenstein with some help of Checkmate and from a conversation between Grayson and Maxwell Lord we see how fragile their alliance is but for the moment that must be enough but it certainly wont be the last we see of Lord and Checkmate.Af...

The ballad of the Wonder Spy 0

This was one of my favorite issues of Grayson. The story was simply fun from beginning to endNow that Agent 1 has partnered with Agent 37 its time to commemorate their new rebellious alliance against Spyral with a Theme Song. This song entertains us as we see Dick and Tiger destroy their former fellow agents across the globe which causes great troubles to Helena who is forced to "ask for help" to those shadowy people we saw previously...enter the Syndicate...lets just hope they put up a better ...

Ouroboros 0

Im not spoiling anything since this was again such a great issue.Things seem to not be going very well for Grayson, he lied to his teammate and to Spyral, and nor Agent 1 nor Matron Bertinelli seem to be willing to forgive him this time; also, he is trapped in a nazi lab surrounded by an army of cyborg spiders, but at least we finally uncovered the mystery of Agent 0,Not a big complain but I'm a little lost with all the references to previous issues and about who are the powers at play here. Grayson is back at Spyral and what a return; in this issue alone you get all the spy things you've always wanted: secret organizations with sinister looking members, misdirection, spy gadgets, secret identities, double crossing agents and last but not least, exotic venues.Using all his wits and charms, and a little from his friends, Grayson follows the few leads he has about agent 0 all the way to a probable nazi lab in wait for it......Germany, with the mission ending in him not only having to ...

Going nowhere 0

Hitch tries to keep the plot surrounded in mysteries but this time instead of being intriguing and exciting its starting to get frustrating and boring. This time giant men made of possessed people (and pure energy?) appear around the world and come together to destroy the world. The biggest problem is that the story doesn't move forwards; we're still dealing with the threats of issue #1 (and a few new ones) and have learned nothing at allThe second biggest problem are the characters, they dont d...

From outer space to Earth's core 0

This is a great follow up to last issue. Last time we had every hero having their own problems and each one felt unique. This time the situation gets worse when the League is attacked in the Watchtower while they were trying to figure out what is going on and how all its connectedBatman and the League are finally forced to ask Superman for help and Im glad this explains why they (Batman specifically) dont trust him as he is very much a stranger to them even if he is the same person they knew. Jungle Woman and Cheetarah 0

With a whole lot we still don't know about what is going on while we already are at issue 3, I'm starting to lose my patience. So far the Lies story line has been very plane, keeping the excitement at the minimum possible and only taking baby steps forward. The story continues with Trevor's squad going into a what appears to be a mystic or magic jungle (hard to tell what the writer or artist intended it to be) to find their terrorist while Diana tries to convince Cheetarah Cheetah to help her (wh...
