A good enough start 0

This is a good enough start for me to give it a few issue try. Initially, I was interested in the comic because 1) the name Mother Panic sounds dope 2) it was set in Gotham so I knew at some point she'd be interacting with Batman or members of the Batfamily. The characters aren't typical and we're being shown other members of Gotham's "elite" class. I like the way the story was told while the writer left bits of pieces are left to the reader to fill in. The artwork was interesting and worked w...

So sad it had to end 0

I'm really sad Sinestro's reign of Fear had to end. His solo series was one of the few good things from New52 & it led beautifully into this. But alas, the Hal Jordan d- riding had to return I suppose lol. I loved Hal forging his own ring from pure will but I still don't feel that makes him stronger then Sinestro with the fear entity. However, biases aside this book was epic. What a damn good conclusion. The fight between Sinestro & Hal was hampered a bit by Sinestro holding back to try ...

The story keeps getting better 0

While the artwork may turn people off initially, as it did me at first, once you get into the story you see that there's a reason the artwork is so weird and unique. It's because this story is so weird and unique and I feel the artist knew it and took advantage of it. The story so far has been excellent and I personally love bearded Dredd and the direction they've taken him with this unique tale. This issue finally explains how it is that the city came to be taken over by the grass and what le...

Such a beautiful arc 0

I'm in love with the Wonder Woman Rebirth run so far & have enjoyed it so much. I love that they are taking advantage of the twice a month releases to tell two different stories instead of just one. My only complaint with Rebirth so far is that the arcs end so fast because most come out twice a month. The artwork has been & remains beautiful throughout the book & Wonder Woman's confusion and need for answers is very well written & displayed. However, with this issue, I'm a bit up...

Does exactly what a "part one" should do 0

Dialogue driven & full of emotion, this issue does a very good job of visiting past events while moving the plot along for the next story arc. I love seeing the damage done by Tim Drake's "death" along with the development of friendships & relationships between members of the Bat family. They could have really dropped the ball & not shown us the individuals out of costume or in their free time getting to know each other but this hints that they won't do that. Also, sets up some good...

Shaking my head 0

So Marvel is so dumb now that they postpone this craptastic event multiple times but don't bother to postpone any of the stories that occur after it (Champions #1, Dr. Doom IronMan, The Ultimates #12) thereby spoiling the ending of this shitty event. I suspect they did it because they figured nobody cared anymore so if we spoil the ending maybe people will come back & read it to see how it happened even if they don't care about the why. As usual, the artwork is gorgeous and makes me smh eve...

Almost made me cry 0

The Ultimates was seriously the best thing Marvel had & the freshest idea in comics in a while. A group of superheroes not united to just pound villains but to actively take a role in the healing of bad guys & prevention of cosmic level threats. They fixed Galactus in the first 2 issues for crying out loud! It was beautiful! I loved the idea of them revealing cosmic secrets & answering cosmic questions that were largely ignored. I'm still interested in knowing who exactly the cosmic...

Finally! 0

I was getting annoyed with this arc because I absolutely HATE how they treat Aquaman in comics & I hate how he accepts it. They don't address him as King or anything like that & they utterly disrespect he & Mera's royalty & dominion. He doesn't receive any sort of diplomatic immunity & is constantly treated like some sort of terrorist even though he's saved the freggin' world dozens of times alongside the Justice League! I love how this issue completely addresses that fact i...

The Law in a new form 0

I almost avoided this series because I didn't feel the artwork was up to par to warrant a purchase. I caved however because I love Judge Dredd & I'm glad I did. The artwork is still a little meh to me but I've adjusted to understand that it's like that to properly represent this weird crap Dredd is going through right now. The story is great though. It's Dredd in a place I've never seen him before. Alone & without the law that he so desperately defends. He's had some wacky adventures in...

Is it possible to love something but still feel "meh" ? 0

*SPOILERS* So I love everything about Detective Comics right now. I'm serious. I even love this issue especially Tim's sacrifice. What I'm upset about is that the glory of his sacrifice & the shock of his death literally lasted all of 4 pages since at the end of the book it's revealed that he was just transported somewhere else. Now I understand that most always deaths in comic books are never for good & perhaps they did this to avoid the cliche thing. Idk. I just personally feel like hi...

A nice follow up to issue #1 0

Where issue #1 introduced us to what the tone of the arc would be issue #2 draws the reader in by adding some depth to the characters by way of giving us deeper insight to their relationships as well as how Batman views some of them & what he thinks of Batwoman. I admittedly read the book 2x to fully grasp everything but for me I love it when I have to do that. It means the book has depth to it and cant just be glossed over like most. ...

A perfect introduction 0

I literally have never bought a Detective Comic before & I decided why not start here? I'm so glad I did. The artwork is gorgeous & the story has a classic 90s feel to it. It's a great introduction place for anybody looking to get into Detective comics but not wanting to dig through nearly 1000 issues of story to know what's going on. ...
