They'll definitely get an ongoing again.

There is no need to publish a book right now as it doesn't help with properties that they own. The new Inhumans books will sell just as well as an FF book would at the moment and it helps improve that brand. The longer they keep the FF on the shelf, the bigger the bump the book will see whenever a new number 1 is released so it is a no lose scenario for Marvel. They left the door wide open for them to come back at the end of Secret Wars.

@immolation: I really enjoyed the middle story of the run with Kang and the Apocalypse Twins but thought the beginning and ending arcs with the Red Skull were weak. Those middle 15 issues or so were always among my favorite Marvel books each month.

@jonny_anonymous: New book looks good visually. It will be interesting to see the direction that the story is going, but I trust Lemire will come up with an intriguing story.

I agree about the Netflix series.

From the books that I read, the best of 2015 were:

  1. Lazarus - Rucka and Lark have built a fantastic world and each issue has been extremely engaging and a joy to read. Can't even imagine where the book is going now after the conclusion of issue 21.
  2. Bloodshot Reborn - I enjoyed the first run of Bloodshot and thought the Harbinger Wars crossover was great. That being said, Lemire and company has made Reborn go to the top of my pile each and every month and only outshone by Lazarus.
  3. Imperium - Dysart's run on Harbinger was one of my favorites for it's 25 issue run. He may have improved upon that for Imperium following the 'bad' guy of the Valiant U, Harada, who is trying to make the world better per his vision.
  4. Black Widow - While my favorite parts of the run probably occurred in 2014 (hard to remember which issues happened in which year), the book was great with Edmonson and Noto at the helm. They had a great grasp of the character and told a thrilling and engaging story.
  5. X-O Manowar - This has been a good year for the book as Vendetti has been on the book for over 40 issues and really seems to have a great vision with where he wants the book to go.
  6. Velvet - The book would be higher but it only released 4 issues in 2015. Brubaker is second to none in noir/spy stories and Epting/Breitweiser do a tremendous job with art and colors to really tell a wonderful story. I just hope that they can accelerate their release schedule to get this story told.
  7. Secret Wars - I have enjoying the story by Hickman and Ribic. I really enjoy Hickman's writing even though the plot hammer strikes too heavy every now and then for my taste but it has been a great ride to close out his run on Avengers and the art by Ribic has been wonderful. If the final issue closes out the story in a satisfactory way, it will probably end up higher, but delays has prevented that to occur in 2014. I'm including Avengers/New Avengers as part of this entry as it is just a continuation of those series.
  8. Invincible - The book just keeps on going. It peaked with Viltrumite War a few years ago, but this year really picked things back up with the hunt for Thragg and the 'reboot.' I like having Mark in space to live as it seems to freshen the book up some and it will be nice to see what has all transpired as shown in the last issue's cliffhanger.
  9. Southern Bastards - Interesting story being told by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour about life in a southern football town.
  10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The book really peaked with issue 50 that had a big status quo change and has been consistently entertaining all year.

Books like Ninjak, Moon Knight, and Fantastic Four just missed the cut for my 2015 top 10. I have a lot of books that I have purchased but not caught up on in 2015 like Astro City (still working through the old series), Black Science, Fade Out, Hellboy/BRPD, Star Wars, Darth Vader, and East of West. Also didn't rate books that have been good but only started late in the year and haven't made it through their first arc yet such as many of the ANAD Marvel books and the James Bond series that was just released.

Worst book of the year goes to . . . BUCKY BARNES: WINTER SOLDIER! Awful book all around. Marco Rudy had some really pretty pages, but that was it. Couldn't stand Kot's story and Rudy's art could be hard to follow. The issues that had art by Foss were especially horrendous. Hopefully the failure of the book will not be taken as a lack of interest in the character, but in the creative choices.

Black Widow by Edmonson and Noto was my favorite with Hickman's work on New Avengers and Avengers following behind that respectively.

DC is having a slightly down year compared to the prior year but it is not horrible. Marvel has just been able to grow mostly due to their Star Wars books. Marvel's non Star Wars books will also most likely take a dip from 2014. I'm planning on writing up a blog on the 2015 financials after the December data has been released. Here is one I wrote after Q2 about the impact of Star Wars and there is an update for Q3 in the comments.

2014 Sales
2014 Sales
2015 sales through November
2015 sales through November
Star Wars sales through November

I enjoyed it. I'd give it a 3.5 to 4. Thought it was a little too similar to Hope and set up a sequel that seems to be going right along with the Empire template.

Swamp Thing and Astro City for me.

Probably pick up Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman some time down the road when Comixology has a sale.

Like many, his solo character is good. His Daredevil run is my second favorite after Miller. Alias was pretty good as was Powers.

I truly do not like his take on teams. His writing could be good if you haven't read or enjoyed previous incarnations of the team. He takes one personality trait that the characters have and amplifies at the expense of everything else and diminishes the characters to only making quips with his point of view character. Guardians of the Galaxy was one of my favorite books from the first time I started seeing the characters appear in Annihilation through their own title and up to and including Thanos Imperative. Once Bendis took over, the book was unreadable for me. The characters were shells of what they were and didn't have anywhere near the same personalities as the previous volume. Same with Avengers. He completely ignored anything related to progress made by the Scarlet Witch and just decided to make her crazy and try to kill everybody because it fit the plot. Age of Ultron was also a horrible book. Not sure how he sat on that story for several years and it came out so horribly.

The one consistent theme that flows through all his books that drives me crazy is the dialogue. Pages upon pages of people bantering back and forth with minimal if any changes in the art. It is pervasive in Alias, Powers, GOTG, and Avengers and goes on and on and on. Pretty much the only way I would pick up another Bendis book at this point is if he would go back on Daredevil.
