    A Marvel on the eyes

What can I say.  If you are a fan of the OZ world this is a must.  This is the most "true to text adaptation" as they say and I believe it.  It is wonderfully illustrated by Skottie Young which scripts written by Oz master Eric Shanower. I has a fan of both the 1939 The Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland, movie and the 1978 "The Wiz" movie featuring Diana Ross and a young Michael Jackson.  I have never read the source version of anything Oz and I am glad this is my first book.  It was wonderful  Both movies I love are different takes, but all there versions have the same themes and morals.

Eric Shanower was a perfect choice for writing the scripts, since he made his name ins comic books working on comics adaptations of the Oz world.

Skottie Young's art is enchanting.  Almost playful, which tones down the violent scenes in which I still would consider this an all ages book.

I could not put this book down.  It is a fluid read.  The series covers are placed in a gallery in the back and the story reads without interruptions.  I really enjoyed the pacing.  I could not tell where one issue ended and the next began

The sketch pages in the back were a nice touch.

I look forward to the next book as this book is a wonderful set up to the OZ world done Marvel style.  This book really is a Marvel on the eyes. Yes cheesy pun intended.

This is a Buy It.  Great Book!
    5/5 Stars
