Lightning Lady

Original Continuity

Lightning Lady was the first Evil Inc character, originally introduced in the daily newspaper print comic strip, Greystone Inn. Lightning Lady was a love interest to the main character, presented as a comical look at a supervillain who spent her life dedicated to a corporate job instead of actively committing crimes. Lightning Lady's popularity lead to a spin-off series directly following the Evil Inc corporate life.

In Evil Inc, Lightning Lady is established to be the receptionist for a major corporation which provides assistance to supervillains through legal methods, including providing real estate management of supervillain lairs, manpower resources for henchmen, and assistance in the marketing and presentation of supervillains in public media. Lightning Lady's role as receptionist makes her central to many storylines, overlapping with all other characters and being a regular source of gossip and discovery, in addition to her own personal story arcs. While Lightning Lady was originally the main character for Evil Inc, over time the romance of Miss Match and Captain Heroic came to the forefront of most story arcs, and Lightning Lady was diminished to a supporting cast member.

Lightning Lady eventually breaks up with her Greystone Inn boyfriend, severing the last remaining ties to the original comic strip, and ventures out on her own individual adventures. Lightning Lady is recorded as having a fierce rivalry with the superhero, Amazing Amazon, with Lightning Lady disguising herself as Amazing Amazon to commit crimes and ruin the hero's reputation, only for Amazing Amazon to disguise herself as Lightning Lady and perform acts of heroism, ruining her credibility as a villain.

Lightning Lady has a brief relationship with a low-grade henchman named Marquis when he impresses her on a job, though she ends up ending the relationship as dating a henchman is considered a social faux-pas and threatens to hold back her career.

Eventually Lightning Lady's initiative and competency result in her being promoted to an undefined but higher paying "management position", and Lightning Lady's position as receptionist is restaffed with the demonic sorceress, Desdemona. CEO Evil Atom does eventually admit that despite Lightning Lady's competency as management, he regrets replacing her as receptionist because she was the only one capable of making a good cup of coffee.

Current Continuity

During the hard reboot of Evil Inc, Lightning Lady was introduced again as the receptionist of Evil Inc, though this time she is presented as significantly less proficient in her job. Lightning Lady still appears to be a central figure threading together multiple storylines, observing much of what transpires and being the source of much gossip; however, Lightning Lady is also presented as more flighty and ditzy, and less ambitious in her career.

Lightning Lady is reintroduced to the henchman, Marquis. In the new continuity, they have an alternate accounting of their first date, this time with Marquis demonstrating a superpower of his own, with an ability to create portals to alternate realities so that he can perform henchman work for different incarnations of the same supervillains. Following their first date, Marquis disappears for some time and Lightning Lady does not seem particularly remiss, suggesting that this relationship was not serious.

Marquis is reintroduced later as the creator of the new Go-Fiend-Me app, a mobile app which assigns very small tasks to it's users in order to complete elaborate crime schemes that are essentially unsolvable, because they have so many people involved and nobody involved knows anything more than their one insignificant role. When the Go-Fiend-Me app begins hurting Evil Inc's business, Lightning Lady is assigned to resolve it, and after reconnecting with Marquis, Lightning Lady makes arrangements for Evil Inc to simply purchase the Go-Fiend-Me app from it's creator, making Marquis incredibly wealthy in the process. Lightning Lady attempts then to pursue a serious relationship with the now rich Marquis; however, upon obtaining such great wealth, Marquis instead finds himself the target of many women attracted to him for his money, and dismisses Lightning Lady and her relationship attempts in order to pursue life as a billionaire playboy.

Lightning Lady finds herself accidentally accompanying Miss Match during the discovery of Dr. Zapp's hidden lair within the Evil Inc office, and stops him from destroying the city, but agrees with Miss Match and commits to keep his existence secret and allow him to continue work on his doomsday device.

Lightning Lady's apartment is haunted by the ghosts of several deceased henchmen whom she had accidently got killed on a previous scheme. These Henchmen's spirits regularly possess her electronic devices in order to harass her.

Lightning Lady is referenced as maintaining a version of her previous rivalry with Amazing Amazon, though in a less professional nature. Amazing Amazon alleges that Lightning Lady dressed as Amazing Amazon and then performed in a pornographic film while claiming to be the hero to tarnish her reputation. Amazing Amazon retaliates by having a shapeshifter named Carbon Copy mimic Lightning Lady and then create a similar film to embarrass her in return.

Lightning Lady begins a relationship with Rewind, a newly hired accountant at Evil Inc with the power of reincarnation, but quickly ends the relationship when he states that he has fallen in love with her. Lightning Lady and Rewind consider rekindling their relationship, but Rewind ultimately is killed while getting revenge on Evil Atom for actions committed during one of Rewind's previous lives. Following Rewind's death, Lightning Lady enters a genuine period of mourning and loss, very contrary to the casual attitude towards death previously, suggesting that her feelings for Rewind were deeper than the relationship originally appeared.

Relationships

Lightning Lady is canonically considered to be bisexual, and is the most promiscuous member of the Evil Inc roster. Lightning Lady has what is initially presented as a random fling with the Henchman, Marquis. During this encounter, Marquis opens a portal to an alternate dimension, and an alternate version of Lightning Lady emerges, also joining Marquis and Lightning Lady. Lightning Lady later attempts to rekindle her relationship with Marquis when she discovers him to have become overwhelmingly rich, clearly showcasing her interest in dating him for his money rather than for any emotional or romantic connection. When Marquis rejects her advances, she acts annoyed, but not emotionally sad or hurt.

When Dr. Zapp's earthquake machine threatens to destroy Evil Inc, Lightning Lady seduces Dr. Zapp to distract him from his scheme. Lightning Lady encourages Miss Match to join her with Dr. Zapp, and uses Miss Match as additional distraction for Dr. Zapp until she is able to overwhelm and burn out his machine. Despite having had this singular tryst with Miss Match, Lightning Lady has not openly expressed any interest in further pursuing this relationship further.

Amazing Amazon alleged that Lightning Lady had engaged in a "12 man gang bang" while disguised as Amazing Amazon for the purposing of ruining the heroes reputation. While Lightning Lady has never directly addressed this accusation, it does seem to fit with the previous continuity's idea of rivalry and impersonation between the two characters.

Powers

Lightning Lady has been shown to be able to both create and control electrical energy, shooting it from her hands in the form of lightning and covering her body with it as a form of shielding. These blasts have been able to be deployed large enough down powerful superheroes and blow open vaults. Lightning Lady's electrical control has also allowed her to repeatedly malfunction electrical equipment, and once accidentally brought a sheet of paper to life. Additionally, Lightning Lady can fly at a high rate of speed.
