Last Son of Kraven

Origin

The "Last Son of Kraven" is one of 87 clones created by High Evolutionary for Kraven the Hunter. Kraven requested these clones because he was dissatisfied with his only heir being a daughter. The Last Son of Kraven is a perfect clone of his father, Sergei Kravinoff. He is entirely human being but designed to reach adulthood at in accelerated pace.

When Kraven built a new home in the Savage Land, he sent his sons out into the jungle with a mission to prove themselves before they returned home. Only one came home carrying a sack of his brothers' skulls. The Last Son of Kraven had killed all of his brothers for not being worthy of their father's legacy.

Kraven referred to him as an abomination and a beast before celebrating the fact that he finally had a worthy heir.

The Last Son of Kraven was created by Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley in The Amazing Spider-Man #16

Major Story Arcs

Hunted

The Last Son's first official mission as his father's only heir was to help Kraven target Spider-Man, his greatest enemy. Kraven believed by antagonizing Spider-Man into killing him, Kraven would finally be free of the curse of immortality he received during his botched resurrection by his family. The plan was to capture animal-themed villains and allow high rollers to hunt them for sport.

The Last Son hated this plan and did not understand why they didn't hunt them themselves. Angry at his father, The Last Son joined the hunt and eventually crossed paths with Spider-Man on the killing fields. He brutally pummeled Spider-Man to death and unmasked him only to find his father in Spider-Man's costume.

Guilty over his father's death, he ransacked Kraven's home, where he found a letter his father wrote before his death. Kraven revealed that this was his plan all along and that The Last Son was not going to inherit Kraven's legacy as his son. But rather, as the new Sergei Kravinoff, himself.

Monster Island

Looking for a challenge, the new Kraven went to Staten Island, which was recently converted to Monster Island thanks to a centuries old legal claim on the land. Kraven was able to kill 11 monsters before arousing suspicion. As the recently crowned King of the Monsters, Deadpool tried defending his people from Kraven. However, his Honor Guard and Elsa Bloodstone kept trying to save him, specifically because if Kraven successfully kills Deadpool, he becomes the new king.

To fight Kraven man-to-man, Deadpool had to trick them all into retreating. This gave the two fighters the opportunity to trade barbs and stabs in a brutal and bloody fight. Eventually, the Honor Guard would return to help Deadpool push Kraven out of the town. Once close to water, Kraven was snatched by a tentacled beast, giving the victory to Monster Island.

That beast would continue to struggle with Kraven all the way to Alaskan waters where Kraven finally freed himself. He vowed that one day he would kill Deadpool, "the unkillable man."

The Moon Hounds

When More, the two-spirited wolf grandchild of Loki, escaped their prison in Hel, Hela hired Kraven to hunt them down. He was given enchanted bullets to slay the beast, but More was evasive. Loki eventually put More on Jane Foster's radar, thinking More needed to be reigned in. However, More and Jane made quick allies, and Jane vowed to protect them from Kraven.

Unfortunately, Jane was pre-occupied with a woman who came into her hospital saying her children were taken from her. When the children's location was shared with Jane, Jane left, giving Kraven the opportunity to spear More with his venom soaked weapon.

With More dead to rights, Loki approaches Kraven, pretending to be sent by Hela and makes off with Kraven's prize.

The Sinister War

On the commands of Kindred, Doc Ock started to reunite the Sinister Six. He tracked down Kraven in the Savage Land and offered him a chance to hunt The Lizard in exchange for joining his team. He accompanied the rest of the team to recruit their sixth member, Mysterio, only to be confronted by The Savage Six at the premiere of Mysterio's movie.

Their fight spilled over to a graveyard with more supervillains all fighting for the chance to kill Spider-Man. Eventually, Doc Ock uses a piece of Black Ant's helmet to knock everyone, including Kraven, out through the ear centipedes Kindred was using to control them.

Sinister Adaptoid

After going their separate ways, The Living Brain kidnapped Kraven and five other foes of Spider-Man's. He was using them to program a new Super Adaptoid to hunt down and defeat Spider-Man so that the Living Brain could fulfill its original purpose, answer the question "Who is Spider-Man?"

In a fight with this Sinister Adaptoid in the Living Brain's lab, Spider-Man uncovered his villains in shackles. Against his better judgment, he decided to release them so that they would aid him in defeating both the Super Adaptoid and the Living Brain. When they found the Living Brain's control center, the Sinister Six wanted to kill it.

Believing it to be alive, Spider-Man defended the Living Brain's life. Seeing Spider-Man put his life on the line for an enemy whose life Spider-Man considered equally valuable satisfied the "Who is Spider-Man?" question. Thus, the Living Brain trapped the Sinister Six and agreed to Spider-Man's demands that it be temporarily taken offline and given to proper authorities.

The Hunt for X

While testing his skills in The North Pole, Kraven killed a polar bear that had eaten Deadpool, while Wade was on X-Force business. Kraven turned the bear into a pelt, gathered up the pieces of Deadpool, and wandered into a Siberian pub. There, he overheard the locals call mutants the new apex predator thanks to their new Krakoan privileges, inspiring Kraven's next hunt. Interrogating Deadpool's still reassembling body, he learns Wade had been given special gate privileges despite his lack of an X-gene and plans on using him as a key.

Once on the island, Kraven discards Deadpool's remains and targets Krakoa's major national security apparatus, X-Force. He plans on taking control of their holographic defense system, The Shadow Room, and attacking Beast to bait the most dangerous of all the mutants, Wolverine. Logan humored Kraven briefly before dismissing his pedestrian attempts at hunting with honor, deciding to save his teammates from the haywire holographic training session.

Begrudgingly accepting survival as a form of victory, Kraven returns to the North Pole to bare witness to Progenitor returning to Avengers Mountain in the wake of their conflict with the Eternals. In the shadow of the fallen god, Kraven is reminded that even the immortal X-Men will fall and swore to be there when they did.

Kraven the Hunted

Kraven was convinced by Queen Goblin that the only way he could prove himself better than his father was to become his enemy and hunt him down. She also convinced him that Spider-Man was not his enemy but an insignificant weakling. Instead, he should go after the Green Goblin. However, they first need to transform the Green Goblin back into his old self, thus freeing Queen Goblin of her own goblin curse. They held a ceremony that imbued Osborn's sins from within Queen Goblin into a special spear that Kraven would use to reinfect Osborn with his own sin.

When he attempted to attack Osborn, Spider-Man stepped between them and was stabbed instead. Now infected with the goblin curse, Spidey's rage has been increased. He changed to an old black uniform and hunted Kraven, recreating the events of Kraven's Last Hunt. First, he injected Kraven with a special pheromone and chased him into The Vermin. Then, he buried Kraven alive with his father's rifle, in case he felt like using it on himself.

Alone with his thoughts, Kraven reflected on his failures to live up to his father when he was suddenly saved form the grave by Norman Osborn, who asked Kraven to help him set things right in return. Realizing that he faced the same darkness his father did and refused to pull the trigger, Kraven was convinced his father's better. With newfound composure, Kraven agreed to distract Peter until Norman could use the spear to extract the goblin curse. Kraven then volunteered to dispose of the spear and never bother either of them again

As a genetic duplicate of Kraven the Hunter, who also raised and trained him from youth in the Savage Land to replace him as the next "Kraven the Hunter," this Kraven presumably has all the abilities and skills of the first Kraven.
