Jemm...Son of Saturn
Well, this fantastic 12-part maxi-series finally comes to a close here with Jemm, Son of Saturn #12. When reading that last page my feelings were so mixed. It was an exciting and joyous occasion in that I got to read the entirety of such a wonderful series, but at the same time it was saddening that it was all over. But, onto the issue itself...
This issue has plenty of suspense as Jemm goes to New York City to rematch Kamah the Koolar, with Luther's life hanging in the balance. It was pretty neat to see Kamah resurface in this series (just add her to the multitude of other good characters that Greg Potter has created in this series). You can kind of sympathize with her because she's just trying to regain her honor and prove her utility to her superiors. But of course you sympathize with Luther and Jemm more, and thus pull for them.
I love how this issue doesn't close it all off for any future stories. There's still Syrra out there, so what's going to happen between her and Jemm in future stories (past stories from my point of view I guess, unless of course they bring Jemm into the New 52, boy would that be great!). It looks like an ending, but it really leaves the door wide open for possibilities as to what will happen.
The ending is quite a tearjerker. It really tugs at the heartstrings.
Overall, just an excellent conclusion to a very excellent series. After reading this series, Jemm has definitely moved way up in my list of favorite superheroes, and I can't wait to get my hands on some more Jemm material (I just pray and hope that I'm not disappointed).
But, please, don't take my word for it. Read the series for yourself and see how good it is.
Lastly, I'd just like to thank Greg Patter, Gene Colan, and the rest of the creative team that put this outstanding maxi-series together. Thank you very much.
