Back in Black (Not Pink) 3

Honestly, I never really intended to give this title a look at all. Sure, Gambit was always enjoyable in the X-books that he would use to grace us with his presence, but he always felt like one of those characters who could never really support his own book, and so was best left as a supporter for books like X-23, X-men Legacy, and of course uncanny X-men.Then I read Hawkeye #1. And like everyone else who seems to have picked up that book, I started to be a bit more optimistic about a character ...

    The Thief is Back 0

I am not overly familiar with either James Asmus or Clay Mann besides knowing who they are but I think they have done a really good job with Gambit who recently has been a hard enough character for people to write in X comics let alone in a solo comic. I think Mann's art really suits Gambit and I can't think of any other people of the top of my head recently that have done him as good as this.I really like how Gambit went back to his roots in this comic as we've seen Gambit the X-Man for years n...

    Hot! 1

Asmus and Mann won my heart with Gambit #1; the character should have been approached this way a long time ago. It even helped me understand the take on Hawkeye #1... these two titles are really close to be on top of my list. Please read more of my mini-review of Gambit #1 here:http://bit.ly/NophwLComments and feedback are always welcome!...

Highly Charged with Charm and Mischief... 1

Recommendation: “Sure, why not…”I should start out by saying, I really have no background with this character, other than from cartoons, video games and okay, that one X-Men movie that no one liked… That said, based on what I saw from this book, it is a good jumping on point. It provided enough character background to know what is going on, but not too much to make you feel like it is forcing it on you…Overall, it was an interesting story, very nice art, illustrated good use of his powers and sk...

Promising Start For A Favorite 0

I know for myself, as well as many others, that Gambit is a favorite character from the X-Men team. He always had that bad boy mentality while with the X-Men, but did know how to be somewhat of a team player. Overtime he grew as a member and became a Teacher and Mentor to many of the younger mutants. Now he is back in his own series and I think that it starts off really well. Many readers I'm sure picked up this new series on name alone, but I feel that it has some good content to back up the na...

    Great first issue 0

I can't understand why Gambit #1 has been getting such negative reviews on other websites. I thought this was an incredibly strong first issue that was well written with beautiful art.   Now, I must admit that I don't know much about gambit, but Asmus wrote this in a way where a new reader did not have to know a lot about him. You quickly learn that there has been much change in his life, that he hasn't thieved in a while and there is a great cliffhanger at the end.  In the end I gave this book ...

    New look, same problems. 1

Gambit, my favorite character of all time, like the stuff he touches, filled with explosive potential energy, yet it is very rare that someone taps into it. I actually talked with Clay about the series, and red flags arose all over. It is a fact that the editor kids in Marvel right now can barely handle their work. Clay's art wasn't what it could have been because he received the scripts like four months late (we were at a con and he couldn't hang out because he had to catch up with them). I've ...
