Hulk these days starts off about as strong and goes up from there.
Hercules has always been a peer. Current Red Hulk without his energy draining powers probably falls around here also.
Surfer has pretty consistently been shown as Thor's inferior in a straight physical matchup. Less so than back in the day when Surfer was considered weaker than the Thing but there last encounter still seemed to show Thor with a reasonable edge.
Standard "Mighty Avengers" Sentry is probably about as strong or a tad stronger. Crazy-All-Out Sentry is a lot stronger.
Going by the bulk of continuity and certainly by JLA/Avengers Superman has a decent sized strength edge.
Juggernaut might be stronger though he varies a lot. Sometimes he seems above standard Class 100 but all in all he is probably around Herc/Thor level in strength.
Gladiator was portrayed as stronger at his inception but he has been portrayed at the standard Herc/Thor Class 100 level for many years.
Thor has rogues like Kurse, Mangog and the Destroyer who have been shown as stronger to varying degrees. The Destroyer probably excels more at being indestructible than at being much stronger however. Mangog is probably the most impressive of the bunch but he is beginning to rack up some less impressive showings nowadays.
People completely forget, Thor PUNCHED Beta Ray bill into a planet and destroyed it. That is the equivalent of someone taking a pebble and punching it into a building and destroying it. Sure superman can push a planet, I can push my fridge. I can't destroy my fridge by picking up a fork and punching at it.... Thor is by far one of the Strongest characters I know. You simply have to give him a settling where he can flex the fact he can fly at light speed or crush anything he pleases. He cares too much about the environment around him and peoples safely to go around like a prick like superman creating shockwaves destroying things around him or hulk just rampaging down a street.
entertaining to see people so sure of their answers when the strength for most of the characters mentioned here hasn't been shown to have limits.
While the limit of Thor's strength changes from story to story i don't think its ever been implied to be limitless and its quite often been shown to be limited. You could say the same of almost everyone else mentioned in this thread.
Ah. Then you wouldn't mind naming at least..5 different instances then.
Tell you what - I will provide at least as many instances of Thor's strength being shown to have limits as you provide pieces of evidence that it does not.
Anyway, Thor needed Beta Ray Bill's help recently to lift Asgard. This was still Odinpowered Thor IIRC.
Thor has been overpowered by Mangog.
The Destroyer once melted the floor and turned it to diamond with Thor half stuck in it and Thor could not break free.
Thor has been overpowered by Kurse. Kurse is in fact at least twice as strong as Thor, which we know from the Beyonder's interference. If Thor's strength truly had no limits that would be quite the trick.
Thor has a belt that can double his strength. Again, if Thors strength really has no limits that's a pretty fancy belt.
Depending on how you feel about crossovers in general and JLA/Avngers in particular Thor was shown as weaker than Superman.
Thor was restrained by Hercules in Blood Oath in a wrestling hold and he could not break free. He had to bend the rules by calling down lightning to free himself.
@Thor's hammmer: I fully agree with your list but ummmmm Where's Mr. Majestic though, he has proven to be equal to Superman and in some way surpassing him
