I think the shows are too different to really be compared. I think it comes down to preference of what genre you like over the other. Supernatural to me is a little more contained, and while DW has its funny moments, I tend to like the overall tone and funny moments of Supernatural more. With that said, I find Dr. Who just a lot more out there and adventurous.
Both have their ups and downs but I guess Supernatural mostly because without the 10th Dr idc about the series.

I know they're different, but I've just started watching Doctor Who (third attempt) and I've been watching Supernatural a lot, so I decided, what the hey? I'll make a poll, ha.
I prefer Supernatural. It is a show where stories are created threw research and imagination while I view Dr. Who being about pure imagination. Sure, Supernatural is more contained but I love their same ol tale. It is like a mystery show, a detective show, a supernatural show, and a dramatic show with some funny moments.
Plus, I have grown found of Dean and Sam. I see similarities I share with them, and all my favorite characters share a similar trait with me. Although, there are times Sam and Dean act a totally different way than I would, I still love them as characters.
I'm barely on season four but I've only watched 2 Dr. Who episodes. They are both great but I personally prefer Supernatural.
I just flat out refuse to watch Dr. Who, so......
You and me both, pal.
Though, in answer to the OP, I dislike both a lot, so for me, it's neither.
If you had asked me after the fifth season of Supernatural, I would have said Supernatural no contest. A show that started as one man's vision, one writer's story (meaning the main concept, I know others have worked on it) and it made sense. Things escalated and changed. Now each season is like a soft reboot or a total repetition, they do nothing but die and come back... the show tries to be as defnitive and cringy as the beginning, but it would actually be better off as a comedic show.
Doctor who knows what it is and is able to take itself jokingly. The moments of awesome and seriousness work well whithin the context but it doesn't have any pretense of being this huge ongoing desing. It's fun, it's inventive and it can surprise you.
I just flat out refuse to watch supernatural, there are 101 tv series and films with the same synopsis. I've watched Buffy and Being human and enough pseudo religious / mythical monster shows to last me a lifetime... Dr who while not great is at least in a league of its own and will continue forever, I doubt supernatural will even make it onto mainstream tv in the UK and will be forgotten in a few years time.
But then like I say I've not watched it, maybe ill pick it up in a bargain bin one day and try it, or maybe channel 5 will stick it on at a time there is nothing better on the telly and ill become hooked... Till then Dr Who-ooo yeah the Daleks...

Also Peter Cushing was the Dr in the films and He is amazing...
I have never seen Doctor Who nor do I really plan on doing so right now but Supernatural is arguably one of my favourite shows so yeah, that takes the cake here despite them being largely unrelatable.
I dislike both a lot
out of curiosity, why? Not that I have a problem..
Well, Doctor Who didn't have a drop in quality and vision comparable to what Supernatual had…and is still suffering through. Even Moffat haters can't deny that. That being said, I love both shows.
When Tennant left Doctor Who went downhill fast. I just never liked Matt Smith in the role and the overarching plots and time jumps just left me bemused.
Supernatural took a slight dip too but never hit those depths for me so it wins.
Although if you restrict it to the first 4 seasons of each then I'd be in tears trying to decide which was better.

conflicting view points are conflicting o.O
@skyfire: lol when you said compare the first four seasons I laughed, I instantly imagined you meant the black and white episodes of the first two doctors, with their shakey sets and tiny budgets being comparable to a modern American show... Still the first four series (we don't call them seasons in the UK) were still better ;)
Edit: did you know Dr who is on Series 33?
@hillbillymorangie: Probably should have specified, the first four seasons of the revived series =)
@skyfire: that's ok, I fact looking on the official website the BBC refers to all the series as Seasons and the reboots as series just to really confuse me... So There are currently 33 Seasons and 7 Series according to the Beeb, where Series 1-7 are actually Seasons 27-33 well confusing...
I eventually worked out what you meant, it's only because I have all the DVDs on my bookshelf that I don't really distinguish between old and new... :/

Incase what I said made as little sense to others as it does to myself lol

Polar opposites lmao
After season 5 of Supernatural it got really stale and generic. I'm going with Doctor Who, I've only watched the new who series, but they seem to be able to change things up and keep me guessing. Supernatural has gotten a bit predictable. Though I'm kind of liking this season.

Neither show appeals to me. That and I feel like both shows are basically constructed for teenage girls as most of what I've seen of the fanbase are a bunch of highschool girls going on about how hot the actors are.
Doc who always has been, and will be, a better show.
