The Fire Nation is the largest of the four nations, occupying most of the east side of the world map.
Culture
" Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will, and the energy and drive to achieve what they want. " - Uncle Iroh
The Fire Nation culture is authoritarian. Warriors are aggressive and full of spirit. They also take honor very seriously, and punishments are harsh. As the name suggests, some citizens of the Fire Nation have the talent of Fire Bending.
Dress and appearance follow strict customs. Men wear a beard, mustaches, and sideburns, and all Fire Nation must have topknots. High-ranking women wear elaborately manicured nails. Military uniforms are red and black with yellow stripes to indicate rank. Civilian clothing is most commonly red.
War
One hundred years before the beginning of the
Avatar: The Last Airbender story, Fire Lord Sozin declared war on the other three nations, claiming it was an attempt to unite them and bring peace to the world. The Fire Nation's attacks were brutal, with a deliberate campaign of extermination against the AIr Nomads, in an attempt to destroy the still-young Avatar
Aang.
