The Omega Effect Concludes.
Synopsis: The end of The Omega Effect leaves some surprising results.
After the cliffhanger in part two of The Omega Effect, I was wondering what exactly happened. Without a doubt, the strongest point of this issue was the confrontation between Daredevil and Alves. In a way, it makes sense that it would be Daredevil to attempt to save Alves from becoming like Frank Castle. Even I had a sense that Alves couldn't really become fully committed like Castle has.
However, what's really disappointing about this event as a whole was the ending. I didn't expect Spider-Man to benefit from this event (other than the satisfaction that his "No one dies" rule played out), but The Punisher/ Daredevil scenario is different. I could care less about Punisher's feelings as he was always a loner by nature, and Daredevil may feel some kind of accomplishment, but that doesn't stop me or other readers from saying, "That's it?" There's not really a major impact from this story as we find Daredevil back to where he started.
At least the artwork still held up. Marco Checchetto delivers a new world different from what I'm used to seeing. His quality never wavers as it been consistent from Avenging Spider-Man and his usual work, The Punisher. This gritty, night like atmosphere is perfect for characters like Punisher and Daredevil.
Overall:
What started out strong ends on a slight disappointment. I can't decide who will be more disappointed by the outcome: Punisher fans, or Daredevil fans. Still, despite not being a reader of Daredevil I can't help to wonder what happens next for him.
