Valor, honor
A real moral lesson about friends-ennemies sentiments in the army. Entering the German territory, Captain America and his soldiers ("brothers") fight against the third Reich. Captain America wants to respect the Geneva Convention war rules when he keeps alive a German soldier. But at the end of the story, he sees all these valours he fights for annihilated, ruined by the nazis.
I picked out 2 major failings in this issue :
- Molodec, the American soldier who wants to kill the German prisoner, suddenly likes this ennemy. Why did Molodec change his mind? I didn't notice any transition!
- The good American who has enought heart to save his ennemies vs. the machiavellian nazi killing his own friends with no doubt... I know this is "Captain America", but come on what the hell with such a cliché.
The story happens overnight, so get ready to see only dark (but beautiful) drawings. Finally, I enjoyed this Theater of War issue, analyzing how difficult it is to manage feelings in some war period. But the storyline should have been mastered, seriously.
