Awesome Toy Picks: LEGO Batman v Superman Battle Set

We take a look at the LEGO DC Comics Super Hero Set - Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle.

Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the box. With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice coming out this month, we decided to take a look at the LEGO set inspired by the film. It consists of two vehicles plus five mini-figures and retails for $59.99 with 517 pieces.

You can watch a time lapse video of the assembly process below.

Here's everything you get in the set.

For many, the minifigures are a big selling point. This set includes movie versions of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor.

You can see LEGO Batman looks different from past versions. He also comes with a grappling gun and a second face on the back of his head.

Superman also has a costume closer to the movie version. He has two different facial expressions as well.

Wonder Woman is ready to fight with her sword and shield. The tiny details like her bracelets and movie costume are cool. She also has two different facial expressions.

Lois Lane looks more like Amy Adams instead of the traditional dark-haired Lois. She comes with a camera and two expressions.

Lex Luthor has hair as does the movie version. He also comes with a gun. As shown on the box, you can have Lego Lex go bald. Is this a spoiler from the movie? Because he has a bald option, he only has one facial expression available. The back of his head is blank.

One of the vehicles is a Lexcorp helicopter for Lex. The missiles have green tips. Could they be Kryptonite missiles?

Batman's Batwing is the largest portion of this set. Batman clearly believes in branding. His logo is on the vehicle. The cockpit opens in two parts. Both Batman and Superman have softer capes. This makes it easier to put them inside vehicles.

There's been a lot of different Lego vehicles for Batman. This Batwing has a nice design and an impressive size.

There is a lever in the back you can flip. This lets you fold the wings up. Why do the wings fold up? Perhaps for flying in tighter spots. Maybe it's to make parking easier.

A mini-comic is included.

You can even pose Lego Superman so he can show off in front of Lego Lois.

The set is pretty cool. Sixty dollars is typical for a set of this size. The Batwing looks good. The helicopter is okay. The variety in the minifigures is a big selling point for some. If you're a LEGO collector or are really excited about the movie, you'll want to get this set. There's also the fact that we hardly ever see Lois Lane merchandise. Bravo to LEGO for including her.

Love to have this set. I got the batmobile and the set with mech-suit batman back in early February and loved it. Though when I noticed that the Superman from this set had red boots (the one with mech-suit batman doesn't have boots) I got a little jealous. The batmobile's a solid set, for anyone that wants to know more about it. Both it and the Batwing have the same door pieces, which I think makes them go together very well. Really would love to have this set.

DC is so far behind Marvel Legos. Too many DC sets are Batman with some kind of Bat vehicle and a random Justice Leaguer minifig. I did really like the Lego DC set that included brainiac. I'd love a watchtower set, maybe once Justice League hits.
