"I want you to tell us what you remember from the mission, anything at all. We need to know what happened out there." Paalko interrogated. Kilowog and Jade watched closely... It was strange. Strange seeing Sinestro so disturbed, almost weakened.
"You know what happened you fool!" Paalko's eyes narrowed, and the window that the pair of Green Lantern's stared through turned solid green, disabling their ability to see what happened next. The two looked to each other, both having a lot of questions. What happened to Hal Jordan? And when would they ever get to know?

Time for cereal.
He woke up later this time. Kyle might have spent four or more hours with the mysterious ring he discovered a day before. The green ring created constructs of illustrations he had made in the past, almost anything he thought of. An armored horse, a cannon, medieval swords, shields, and armor. Even some modern day weapons. Whatever this was, it was dangerous. Finally getting dressed, he knew what he was going to do. Grabbing the ring from his drawer, he stuffed it in his pocket and headed out the front door.
Purposely turning down the alleyway in an overcoat and jeans, he faced them all with a smirk. They laughed at his appearance in the alleyway once again. Assuming he was reaching for a gun in his coat pocket, they pulled out one of their own.
"You think we don' got our own gat?" His finger itched the trigger. The goon felt the pressure by his friends creeping into his system. So he fired. But he fired after Kyle put the ring over his finger. The bullet hit a green glowing shield, and they all stepped back. Hovering into the air, Rayner created a bow and arrow.
"I may not have a "gat", but I have a weapon of my own. Now... I'd like my wallet back."
Releasing the green arrow, (no pun intended), it sped after the armed thug. A constructed target appeared in front of the man, stopping the arrow. Kyle looked up, seeing a man in a familiar uniform.
John Stewert.
"They're not worth it." The dark skinned man said, offering a smile. The men ran off, and the Green Lantern landed in front of Kyle. "I'd appreciate my wallet..." A hand moved past John and stretched out to catch one of the men by the leg. Yet another construct formed to stop it, a brick wall. John hovered in front of the slowest of the thugs, holding out his hand.
"Here! HERE!" He said, throwing the wallet then running.
"You're welcome." John said, tossing Kyle his empty wallet. "Dammit..." Rayner said, then realized that he found someone with the same power he possessed. "I suppose this is where we talk about... this?" Kyle added pointing to his ring. John chuckled and flew into the air. "Come on." Kyle could fly. The nobody Kyle Rayner could now fly. Catching up to this mysterious individual, he questioned. "Where are we going?"
"Oa."
"What?"

"So, this is the new blood?" Kilowog said, standing beside Jade. They were all still broken up by Hal's death, but Kyle wouldn't have to witness their mourning. Rayner landed down with John, two humans facing two aliens. It was a lot to take in, but Jade expected him to be a little more shocked.
"Is this normal to you?" She asked, with a brow raised.
"No, I just hate those cheesy jokes you see in every alien movie. "First rings, now aliens! what's next dragons!" And then a dragon shows up, etc. And I'd also not like to jinx myself at the moment." Kilowog looked up her and nodded in approval. "Have you taken him to the Guardians?" Kilowog asked the experienced, human Green Lantern.
"Heading there now." John replied with a nod.
"Who are the guardians?" Kyle of course intervened with an expected question.
"The ones who gave you that ring, c'mon new guy. Let's introduce you." John led the way, looking at Kilowog and Jade before they left. They spoke no words, but their exchanged glances showed that later they would discuss the death of a friend.

"Greetings, Kyle Rayner of sector 2814." Paalko said, amongst the other guardians. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions..." He then looked to Stewert. "Leave us." John waited for a moment, looking at Kyle then Paalko, they didn't get along with Hal, and certainly didn't get along with John. It was all so strange. Exiting the room, he knew it was time to talk to his two friends, Kilowog and Jade.
"We created the Green Lantern Corp to secure the safety of the universe, you are in charge of sector 1814, or as you call it, Earth." Strangely enough, Kyle was beginning to understand. "You'll need to charge your ring. Take this." A lantern in a green orb hovered over to Kyle and dropped in his hands. "The only question I have that seems to be most important is, Why me?"
"The Ring thought you proved yourself to overcome great fear. But why? You'll have to tell show us that. Now if you'll excuse us, we are very busy." The meeting finished, and Kyle didn't know where to start. His world just expanded, largely. He stared out to the rest of Oa, it was the beginning of a new life...
A new job.
A spark in his life...
An everlasting emerald light.
