@mitran: Wasn't bad writing at all, Thanos is straight up classes above BB. Sure BB is a threat and i'm not denying he's a powerhouse, but no way is Blackagar Boltagon a universal threat. Thanos on the other hand, is a universally feared being. So give credit where credit's due... BB put up a good fight, but it was a loosing battle from the start anyway.

Thanos isn't a universally feared being due to his own personal power. He is a universal threat - or can be - because he tends to exploit prep/the latest cosmic MacGuffin and, if one was to be a tad unkind, one might say it was also because cosmic beings tend to be written somewhat idiotically in his presence. BB's voice OTOH was pretty serious business but its lost a bit of its mystique in recent years.

Like its any different for say Hulk to win battle even though the majority of writing he wins not on cunning or brains but just strength not an impressive power which in of itself is not that impressive.

How the f*ck does this count as a low-showing? I'm confused.

How is Black Bolt losing to a guy that has tanked hits from Thor (with ease) and Hulk bad writing?

Black Bolt is still powerful nonetheless, one of the mightiest mortals, but Thanos is on a WHOLE new level.

It's like someone losing to Darkseid, and you calling it a low moment.

.....I don't see why you expect BB to be a h2h specialist....I don't even see how that fits in here.

If anything,it would've been odd to have BB actually win imo.

Thanos should have the sufficient durability to fight it off.

I'm not saying theres anything special or better about the Hulk winning through strength. Thats not my point. I suppose the underlying thing is that I think many people conflate the fact that Thanos has often been the antagonist in huge cosmic stories like Infinity Gauntlet etc with a direct measure of his personal power. Which is considerable but not really on the Universal Threat level, unless perhaps there is some "Avatar of Death" shenanigans going on.

But no - theres nothing inherently superior about winning through physical force over winning via brains or whatever else.

This fight wen't as it should.

Thanos is a guy who can dish it out against ODIN. Thanos isn't on ODIN's level but he isn't a threat the Skyfather can simply swat away like a fly either.

So we now know he lost that fight because he was depowered when the Attilan was destroyed and Terrigen Mist was released

I actually believe Black Bolt would have f**ked up Thanos if the fight was somewhere else not Attilan.

Yes please do explain, it looked to me like he just got a bad beating from Thanos...not a moment I enjoyed as I have always thought Black Bolt had reserves of power and potentially could destroy a planet with a full blown shout...

In New Avengers #5, Black Bolt pretty much one shotted Terrax, a herald of Galakus. He's had some great showings even recently so Black Bolt losing to Thanos doesn't make him any less badass.

    SPOILER ALERT:

All this crap I've been reading about Black Bolt being this bad ass in vs threads and He got owned by Thanos in the pages of Infinity 4. he just yelled like a little b and there was no combat skills or hand to hand showings from him at all!!!!! It was lame! I don't ever want to hear about BB being superior to anyone ever again. Yes it was Thanos, but still.... not one attempted punch from BB. Ugh. I thought when this guy spoke, Odin was supposed to tremble sotospeak.

So one instance of poor writing erases every great feat he ever had? Guess that means Specter can be defeated by a normal human because of that one time Batman kicked him, or Silver Surfer must be weak because of that one time Black Panther got him in an arm bar, and I guess Wolverine is a puss now because Wild Child beat him that one time.

Tho to be fair Thanos has kicked the collective asses of the Avengers without any power enhancements before so its not like BB went down to some punk.

No he isn't some punk and I'm feeling a bit happier however now I know he was weakened when he gave Thanos full beans. It does make it confusing when they put a different slant on a story in a different comic, so people like me who just flicked through Infinity didn't have a clue what was going on...

Yes. Because one instance of bad writing can undo a lot of things. Hell the bad writing of One More Day is a prime example, and the Bad Writing of Gwen and Norman, which means nice girl Gwen was actually just a whore, even Thanos himself has been hit by it, always having clones makes him look like a complete wimp.

The results would of been the same whether or not Black Bolt was weakened.

Thanos is simply on another level.

IMO Black Bolts sucks. Never knew what was so interesting or cool about the character. His abilities are lame and so is his custom. This was not bad writing at all.

    Again just my opinion.

Exactly, and if you want to be more impressive, look at his fight with Odin. The way he fought Odin puts Thanos on another level.

Coming a huge Black Bolt fan, I'm perfectly fine with seeing him lose to a character whos alot more powerful than him, I just don't get why other people can't accept it.

Black bolt is still a badass regardless of what happened. Whoever thinks otherwise needs to start reading more about Black bolt. Prior to reading the fight between him and Thanos, I knew he was going to lose. I just didn't know how bad it was going to be. In my opinion, Black bolt did his best using his main power. Why the hell would he start swinging punches if his strongest attack is his voice? C'mon man.... You can call it a loss but the guy accomplished what he wanted to do.
