DC's Zatanna 1st Issue and Fishnets!

Uncle Pappy Wolf doesn't know why...ahem "fishnets " ...but  he's always had a warm place in his heart for the lovely character Zatanna. So much potential. So far the story is pretty good. I prefer the variant cover by Brian Bolland (see added pic), and the inside art by Stephane Roux has a wonderful "classical feel" look to it.  The coloring adds a nice "ominous but not too dark" mood to the story with warm evening shades of red spread throughout the panels. This is one title where the art does seem to add to the storyline quite nicely.
Speaking of the story, I'm diggin the Zatanna/Cop partnership  angle and I really hope writer Paul Dini keeps that formula throughout the next few issues. It makes for some real interesting future character arcs and having a non magic "Muggle-esc" character to act as a vehicle for the reader into Zatanna's crazy world is a real plus in making exposition bubbles more natural. This title has a lot of potential and it reminds me a lot The Dresden Files stories or dare I say X- Files with a magic twist and fishnets ...did I mention the fishnets? U.P Wolf can't wait to pick up and devour the next few installments. A solid 1st issue. 3.75 Paws out of 5!

Story We start the very first issue out with Zatanna performing a show. Later a detective takes her to a scene of a very gruesome and strange crime. The murders look like magicians did them. A waiter who survived is still there and Zatanna reads his mind to see what happened. Brothernight and his crew did the crimes. Zatanna confronts them in the Underworld. She defeats anything they throw at her and threatens that if anything like this happens again she will use force. At the very end, B...
