To Be "Good Guy or Bad Guy"?
Book two of the X-Statix is great. Peter Milligan is still out of control and Mike Allred is along for the ride. This trade is one of the better values. It has 5 issues from the series, along with the rare Wolverine/Doop mini and a mini that was not even written by Peter Milligan because it was a back up in an X-Men comic. This is the only trade to deviate from just the monthlies and because of that it is the only must have. The rest of X-Statix can be enjoyed in lose pamphlet singles, while this trade makes it easier to see the full X-Statix adventure.
The three stories break into: Good Guys Verses Bads Guys, Wolverine & Doop and "A Hard Day's Fight".
Good Guys Verses Bad guys blurs the meaning of Hero. What makes a good "Guy" and what then make him a bad "Guy"? This comic essay literally makes Guy Smith flip flop between us seeing him as a good guy and a bad guy.
Wolverine and Doop is a nice back story to the relationship Wolverine has with Doop. It is a relationship Peter Milligan was establishing early in the X-Force days. My reviews to both issues can be found ( Here) and ( Here).
A Hard Day's Fight I didn't even know was printed until this trade. It is a nice boys night out story. The men in X-Statix bond well in this story. The only problem I have with it is that since Peter Milligan didn't write it, it doesn't flow well with the overall story, it is not important. It is just fun.
The X-Statix books are currently out of print, so if you see this book at cover price snag it up.
Cheers
