It's been bothering me for some time that Karma is a student at the JGS, for various reasons, but I just read her character page and it turns out that she not only has teaching experience but a college degree (not sure what it was in, though). Both these make her way more qualified to teach than virtually every teacher at the JGS, so why is she a student?

She's not a student, she works at the school. As the librarian, among other things.

That was only seen in Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and the Omega. In that series, I think the final issue, she was seen and acting as a student, even though she is not. I think it was the writer's mistake, maybe. But yeah, she is a teacher.
