Children of the Atom
Definitely the best movie of the X-Men franchise ever, combining great performances, interesting characters, a thrilling and exciting story and the right amount of action, this flick was astonishing, especially because of the antagonical visions of Xavier and Magneto regarding the future of the mutants brewing up and growing in intensity as the story was told, also it was very intelligent how some concepts like the Hellfire Clube was designed (a club looking for take over power), how some characters like Moira Mactaggert, even with her story modified, interacted perfectly with the plot and the whole idea of mutants coexisting peacefully with humans shattered by the flickering emotions and fears of politicians and the status quo - aside from some bad choices, like casting "Angel", stupid and unnecessary dialogues and how Havok´s power was designed, I really liked a lot the characters involved in this movie, especially Beast, Banshee and Sebastian Shaw - it was awesome seeing this old X-Men villain as the enemy of this movie and how they managed to combine real History (the Missile crisis, the Cold War) and this character as the catalyst of an imminent World War III - James McAvoy as Charles Xavier was incredible and Magneto (both his story and the actor who played him) was very good also - I liked how they brought in to the story the dilemma of how mutants can be accepted and live among "normal" society when they are as different as Raven and how her dialogues with Hank worked pretty good to keep this idea interesting - the dynamics of the first 35 to 40 minutes were intense, slowing a little after that when Xavier is gathering and recruiting mutants, but the level of action and thrill were present in every minute of this movie - the fights weren´t amazing, maybe with the exception of Azazel, on the contrary, I guess the weakest thing about this movie was the fights, but the high level of the story and the dialogues compensated for this flaw - the best scene in my opinion is Magneto destroying Shaw´s yate and Xavier rescuing him - there were some funny moments also, like when Xavier is teaching his "students" to master their powers - I´ve missed some characters like Iceman, the real Angel or even Colossus (since the U.S.S.R. was involved), but overall this was an incredible movie, great plot, nice special effects, excellent performances, definitely the best movie of the mutants ever made and I can´t wait for the next one!
