Worlds’ Finest #3 Review
Worlds’ Finest #3 Review
Overview:
Huntress and Power Girl continue to battle Hakkou in Tokyo
The Good:
This was a solid issue with good art and good writing. The art, drawn by George Perez, fits the series really well. Sometimes his art misses the mark but it really fits the series, particularly the humorous aspects of the flashbacks.
The writing is good, not great but good. The writing really shines in the flashbacks when Karen and Helena are just talking and trying to be normal people, it is pretty funny and realistic for the average superhero series from one of the Big Two. The present day scenes are also good but they did not stand out as much.
The flashbacks work so well because it shows Helena and Karen just relaxing and being friends and that is something that has been lacking from a lot of the New 52 books and it is really refreshing seeing it here.
The Bad:
The present day story fighting Hakkou is really annoying, sure there is a bit of mystery and intrigue but it is dragging out a little too much. They should devote an issue to wrapping it up and then another issue to the flashbacks. It is the only major problem with the book, the pacing, but it still effectively tells the story. The only other problem is that Hakkou is a poorly defined villain, that is what most of the mystery is concerning but the pacing issues really hurt him and defining what he can do.
Verdict:
A good issue that has some humorous flashbacks and really shines showing how good of friends Helena and Karen are. The action is alright but suffers from pacing issues and what he can do but serves its purpose well enough.
