Last issues action brought Diana to Turkey and no we find out why. She meets a groups of Amazons who are at an ancient temple praying for her. When she first arrives they are being attacked by a group mercenaries. Diana talks with them and discovers more about her role. She talks with a god (presumably Aphrodite as they are at her temple) through a statue and it is revealed that Diana must be tested so that she can discover what it means to be a queen.
It's a stretch to say that Wonder Woman is not the same anymore, and not with some other woman taking Diana Prince's title. It's more along the lines of aesthetic changes, a rebooted storyline, and a new writer making these changes since #600. And while the work that J. Michael Straczynski is taking borders on the near gargantuan pinnacles for writing both Superman and Wonder Woman, he still manages to create some compelling issues, even more so with #602. Cover The cover was cool especially showing the killers on her cuffs. Story There are killers who want to kill the Amazons. Wonder Woman attacks the killers that way she could try to get the Amazons to escape but, an Amazon is hurt and they need to stay in till she heals enough that way they can move her without dying.
