    New 52: Wonder Woman #6

Let me just start off by saying I think what the Azzarello team is doing with this storyline is brilliant. By making Wonder Woman’s father Zeus, rather than a child born alone from clay given to her mother, Azzarello and team set up a family feud dynamic not unlike that of Game of Thrones. With all the treacherous jockeying for power that goes along with such high stake grabs for power among such notorious deities. I’m also finding Wonder Woman’s place in Greek mythology somehow more logical, if that makes any sense… The art of this issue is not as crisp as the previous artist on the book. In some panels Wonder Woman looked powerful but in a way that was almost mocking? Almost like that of a wrestler, lacking in grace in favor of brute force. I think Chang’s art in previous editions was more beautiful and still just as strong. Although this comic book did have a good sense of movement. Hera is quickly becoming an enjoyable foe not unlike Cersei from Game of Thrones. And I especially loved that Poseidon and Hell’s incarnations were not necessarily human. Hell’s head looked like that of a Hiroshima storm cloud and Poseidon that of a giant Kraken. I found that to be a smart touch, not necessarily expected.

I understand everything which happened in this issue, but it still leaves me thinking that it is kind of the equivalent of an anecdote which is being recounted which the person telling thinks is fascinating but that the people listening can recognize the value of the story, but that it is being told in an ineffective manner.  The art style here certainly does not do any favours, but this all seems like a bit too much too fast for this series.  In fact thinking back over the previous few issues t...
