Anybody got a good plan to stop Reed?
Synopsis: Nick Fury locates Captain America for help, meanwhile, the rest of the Ultimates have their own problems to worry about.
What's Good?
Finally, after 5 issues, Steve Rogers is revealed to be pulling a post Rambo. While it's not stated, it's obvious the reason why he's out in the middle of nowhere is because he feel responsible for Peter Parker's death (and he should). Jonathan Hickman knows that Steve Rogers is more than a super solider. He's the heart of America. When things are bad, his presence is what keeps hope alive ( Sounds cheesy, but it's effective). That's why in some ways, I like the Ultimate version of Captain America more than the mainstream. He's a man that can be broken, but can rise again.
Besides Steve Rogers, Reed Richards is just a smug bastard. He clearly taunts his opponents knowing that he's in full control. I mean, how cocky do you need to be when you allow someone to come and go to The City and report back to Nick Fury? I read in the FF and Fantastic Four that there were a league of evil Reed Richards from different universes. Why didn't they recruit this guy?
As for the rest of the team, Captain Britain, The Falcon, and Black Widow, they all cope with the situation along with their own problems (Speaking of Black Widow, she has a very funny way of protecting her kid. "Because mommy and daddy would shoot them in the face with an Uzi.")
Esad Ribic continues to do some impressive work with The City of The Children of Tomorrow while Brandon Peterson does his part with the rest of the book with the post action pages.
What's Bad?
Like the previous issue, the Kratos Club that Tony Stark is a part of once again becomes the weakest part of the story. I understand the concept of the club, but I don't understand is how they plan to be in power much longer if The Children of Tomorrow plan to change the world in their image. On top of that, there's also SEAR to worry about.
Other than that, this was a slow paced issue, recapping some facts that we already knew from the last issue and building on characterization.
Overall:
Again, there's nothing particularly wrong with these two issues, as they both add more character development rather than action all the time. I think the next issue will serve as another round against Reed Richards.
