I’m not one of the haters. Sure, I don’t listen to Justin Bieber’s music, but it ain’t exactly made for my demo, either. Live and let live, right? Then again, my nine-year-old niece doesn’t like the kid because he “sings like a girl” so I guess the adulation from little girls isn’t quite unanimous. Still, “Bieber fever” is sweeping across the country like a big, wet mop and it was really only a matter of time before Bluewater took notice of this kid. The publisher’s Fame imprint has spit out biography comics for celebrities like Lady Gaga and… well… basically anybody associated with the TWILIGHT movies, so it’d follow that eager little Bieber would be next on the docket.
With or without sanction from the subjects themselves, these FAME books get the attention of the mainstream media whenever they come out. Barbara Walters even brought copies of her FEMALE FORCE one-shot to the table on THE VIEW a while back, even though it seemed like that was the first she’d ever even heard of it. Following that, Bieber’s book would get a segment on E! News, making it maybe the only comic that’s ever been covered by that station. Here’s their recap… == TEASER ==
Huh! She did a little Comic Vine Theater-style there. You see that, G-Man?
This kid’s still, what, 16? So there’s probably only so much life story for this comic to cover. As you can see from video, it’s going to touch on the his meeting with Usher and his appearance on Ellen, then it'll have a lot of abstract imagery representing his quick journey from Youtube to national TV.
You know, now that Bieber’s got one foot in the comics business, I suppose it’s only a matter of time before he gets rumored to play somebody in X-MEN FIRST CLASS. Do you kids see him as a shoe-in for Anole?
